My son has reflux and is on prevacid which isn't helping too much. He was on Similac Advance which he had gas on and I just switched to Nestle Good Start Gentle Plus, which makes him seem worse (although maybe it's just the transition???). His twin is on Alimentum and I'm thinking maybe I should try that. AGHHH! I hate seeing this gassy, sad baby! Any thoughts would be great!

Yep, I would go to the Alimentum. It worked wonders for my reflux babies. Alot of reflux babies have a milk and/or soy intolerance and will do so much better on a hypoallergenic formula.

I would also suggest a hypoallergenic!

If I just switched him yesterday afternoon to the Good Start, how soon do you think I can try the Alimentum?

Try the Alimentum, or I would try Isolmil.

I would probably give the Nestle Good Start one more day, but after that I agree with the PPs that your baby may have a milk intolerance in which case Alimentum should greatly help.

Our boys were also extremely gassy and fussy at that age, especially Colin. I tried to get him to take Alimentum but he wasn't having it. He thrashed his head from side to side (most babies don't react that way though). So we played the formula roulette game and settled on Gentlease for a month or so then switched to Enfamil AR and finally to Enfamil Premium. For us anyway it just seemed to be more of a preemie thing where their little tummies and intestines didn't operate very efficiently, which also caused them a LOT of poop problems. It was something that they eventually just outgrew. I will say one thing that seemed to help a lot then were Cocyntal vials (search for them on Amazon). They helped when they were crying from gas pains, or were just crying from being colicky. To this day we still keep a good supply of those on hand even though their colicky/gassy/fussy stage is over.

My 9month old had really bad reflux until we switched him to enfamil A.R. formula. Since then he's like a new baby....he maybe only spits up 1 to 2 times a day now where before it was at least once every thirty minutes. Walmart has their brand of that type of formula and it seems to work just as well as the more expensive enfamil... Hope this helps!

We used Nutramigen for our daughter. She had reflux and I think she was pretty miserable until we tried this stuff at 6 weeks. We could see with the first bottle that Nutramigen was working for her. I don't know if the results are always that quick though. Good luck and I hope you find something that works!
