Have you used a SBS stroller in the airport?

We are flying next week and we are planning to use our combi SBS through the airport (we fly from charlotte NC, to toronto ON, to regina SK).

I know the air canada website recommends using an umbrella type stroller, but it doesn't say you HAVE to use one. I figure the combi is like 2 umbrella strollers hooked together, since it folds fairly compact.

Anyways, has anyone used the combi and have you had any problems with the airline argueing about you using it to the gate??

    TIA!! :D

We took ours to the gate when we flew from Denver to Boston last summer -- no problems. I would hesitate to use something really huge like a double Mountain Buggy or a bike trailer/stroller, but as long as it folds up and can be easily lifted by one person, it shouldn't be an issue. I've also gate-checked a GoGo Kidz with carseat attached, and they just treated it as a stroller.

Sorry about my previous post... I wish I could blame it on one of the children touching the computer but it was totally my fault. I have flown Air Canada with a Combi SBS numerous times without any difficulty. I was able to use it all the way up to and onto the airplane. The Air Canada staff at Toronto airport are excellent and a staff member stays with my stroller while I get my stuff to my seat on the plane and then I came back out to collapse it for them without any problems. My stroller has always been there waiting for me as I get off the plane and in the exact condition I left it. Be prepared to take both children out of the stroller at security so they can pat the stroller down. As always, staff on the plane are very accommodating, even asking to heat bottles, hold a child for me while I go to the bathroom, and generally amusing my children. I hope you enjoy your trip!

I have used my Combi every time we have travelled without issue. It folds compact enough to even get on the conveyor belt at security.

We bring our cheaper double umbrella stroller when we fly. But, we have brought our Graco double stroller and our obnoxiously huge Valco twin runabout with toddler seat. We've been able to gate check all of them with no issues. Just know that you'll probably have to fold it up and put it through the scanners at security. With our other 2 stollers they were too big to go through the scanners so they had to take them to another area to be inspected.

Ditto this. :good: We've flown with ours 5 times now.

I've flown with a BOB, and those suckers are big! No worries though - security were fine with it, we gate checked it without a problem and the staff were always really careful with it. The pilot saw it coming out of the hold though as he was getting off the plane, & he joked that it needed license plates and rear vision mirors!! I really think a Combi, which folds up so nicely, would be fine!

Y'all have seriously eased my mind, thank you! :D

This is the first time we've flown with the 4 kids, let alone twin's, so while I'm not a first time flyer, it feels like it all over again!
