So, so, so scared of labor!

Since the beginning I was rather under the impression that I would have a scheduled c-section with twins. The first doc I saw said that a lot of twins are born that way and I've read everywhere that you can't predict what the second baby will do once the first is out so you could end up with both births.

But both of my babies are head down and they are going to make me push them out. So now I am laying around every day waiting for labor to hit and that scares me. I'd much rather just show up at the hospital for an appointment!

I'm scared to death of the pain and the pushing. :( This stress is making me cry a lot. Why am I such a wuss??

I felt the same way. I didn't think I could do it! Both of my girls were head down but the doctor left the decision up to me. My water broke and I'd been in labor for 4 hours and I still couldn't decide. I was so scared to try for a vaginal delivery. My contractions got so bad that they gave me stadol, and I guess that relaxed me enough that I decided to try.

It was so much easier than I ever imagined. Your body is made to deliver a baby, you can do it! I was up and walking around within 2 hours after delivering the girls, and I was off all pain medication by the time I was discharged from the hospital.

 I know it is impossible not to worry, but just keep reminding yourself that it will be okay. You have doctors and nurses there to look out for you and the babies in the event that anything goes wrong.

I was so scared too! I guess scared of the unknown...although I knew I would rather have a vaginal delivery than c-section. Anyways, Aimee is right..your body is made to deliver babies and its amazing how all of a sudden you just know what to do! With my twins being early and no NICU in my hospital they ended up being life flighted. Jack was Baby B and was born at 11:24pm...I was discharged to go see them an hour away by 12pm the next day!! Somehow I don't imagine had I had a c-sect it would have gone the same way?!

PS....I LOVED LOVED LOVED my birth with the boys...even with them being early it was such an experience that I will never ever forget!

    Hey mama,
I'm way more terrified of having a c-sec but I think it's mostly fear of the unknown. I've had a vaginal delivery and it really is nice to be back on your feet so quickly.

When I was pregnant with my son (and scared out of mind of labor) a very wise woman gave me a little tip that I have never forgotten..."they don't give out buttons for pain, take the epidural, you'll be glad you did." I did just that and it was the most wonderful birth experience ever...didn't feel a thing and enjoyed every minute of watching my son be born. Don't think you have to go into this feeling all kinds of pain, they have meds now to take the edge off even if you choose not to have an epi.

Thanks, girls! I'm still nervous but you've given me a lot of positive things to focus on. I most definitely want an epidural!! I'm just paranoid that I'll be too far gone when I get there that they won't give me one.

But it will all work out for the best. I know it!

My water broke at home and then since I couldn't decide if I wanted a C section or a vaginal delivery I was in labor for 4 or 5 hours before I got the epi, and it didn't kick in until I'd been in labor for about 6 hours. If I was going to have a C Section they were going to do a spinal, so since I couldn't decide I just didn't get anything. My water broke around 4 pm, and I know I was looking at the clock in my hospital room at 10 pm still in pain. It was several hours after my water broke until the pain from the contractions really became extremely intense.

When I was pregnant with my oldest DD I was so scared of the labor and birth. I had no idea what it would be like. But somehow you get through it and you have this beautiful baby (or babies in your case). :)

I remember when I was in your situation. I was scared to death. However my labors were the exact opposite of what I imagined. With the Twins I was in labor for 17hrs. Of which I slept for pretty much all of it. I woke up in the morning and they said were going to the OR to have your babies! I was like wait a minute really? After 2 hours of pushing both boys were born with in 6 minuted of each other. I was up and walking around with in 2 hours. I should not have taken me 2 hours to push them out but I was totally doing it wrong... there was a reason though...lol

With Tyler I had an induction date set up. Each and every time I went to the OB I told her how scared I was. She could never figure out why bc the birth of the twins was super easy. I went in On January 16th at 7am By 8am they started my pitocin I got my epidural a while later and at 11:47am Tyler was born after 5 minutes of pushing. As soon as my epidural wore off I was up, in the shower and then dressed and ready for company. Had they let me go home a few hours after the birth I would have. It was very easy for me. In both my labors I didnt have any pair at all. I know this is probably not 100% normal as I know people that have had some pain but Mine was pain free. It can happen just dont stress and relax.. When I was getting my tattoo after the boys were born I told the tattoo artist I would rather give birth then be sitting in his chair. I was totally serious...

    (((HUGS)))) Try not to worry

I was more worried/scared about my c-section than my VBAC. I won't lie, it hurts, but for me labor was great! I'd do it all over again if I could. Rely on the nurse(s) and make a birth plan!

I have to agree. A c-section makes me a little more terrified than the thought of a vaginal delivery. But that's probably because I never even gave vaginal delivery a thought. I'm a previous c-section so my doc won't even let me try. I just remember all the little pain in the butt things that were so inconvenient from the c-section that I don't want to have to go through again. Nothing I can't handle though! :)

Good luck Momma! You'll do great!

You may want to consider a doula..I'm totally happy with ours and really looking forward to having someone to "hold our hand" figuratively or literally.

I was the same way. Both of my babes were head down and I still ended up with the dreaded c-section. I was in labour for 21 hours and baby A just didn't want to come down. So, I guess you really shouldn't work yourself up over something that may or may not happen? I know, easier said than done, but just enjoy the rest of your pregnancy because it will be over before you know it.
