I have a TON of baby food left and Ty would much rather have table food. I might be able to get half a jar in him before he decides he does not want it anymore and then the rest goes in the trash.

Someone on a different board suggested I mix in a jar with the pancake mix and give it to him in the pancakes. Im going to try this but im looking for more ideas to go through all this baby food.

    TIA

We mixed baby food fruit with plain yogurt until the girls were at least 18 months (maybe longer). It was actually cheaper than buying organic flavored yogurt.

For veggies, I'm not sure. Sarah ate baby food veggies until ~15 months or so, but I think we had a few jars in the cupboard for several months after that until I finally threw them out.

You can throw baby food into a ton of recipes to up the amount of veggies

applesauce - replace oil in almost any baking recipe
prunes - replace oil in brownies, chocolate baked goods
carrots or sweet potatos - mix nicely into tomato sauce or mac and cheese
green bean & peas - I think can be mixed into ground beef to make meatballs, hamburger, or meatloaf. Use it instead of the other liquids in the recipe.

If you go to the sneaky chef website, she uses fruit and vegetable purees in her recipes and I know a lot of people substitute baby food for the purees.

I think yo baby now even has veggie flavored yogurt... and I will mix yogurt with anything for a bit hit at our house, so that might be an idea too - not just yogurt and fruit.

i was also going to say that I mix in squash and/or sweetpotato type foods in with pasta sauce... we've done this even before kids. its really good.

There are now yogurts on the market that are fruit and veggies mixed with yogurt. My boys love them! I think they are apple/butternut squash, banana/sweet potato, and carrot/strawberry (I'm not positive on that one though).

    Great thread!

Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica, published a book called Deceptively Delicious that I believe is all recipes that use purees in regular food. It's designed for kids who won't eat veggies, but it will give you ideas on how to use your leftover food. Here-I found the website- http://www.deceptivelydelicious.com/site/index.php

    Happy cooking!

I've heard of someone using it as a spread on toast, bagels, and pancakes. I've always just given it away.

if you just want to get rid of it give it to your local food bank, thats what we did with our last singleton. otherwise you've had many other good cooking suggestions. :)
