    Hello all,

21 weeks pregnant with b/g twins. My back has not been right with this pregnancy for a long time already. I'm hoping to get some better advice from my peri next week and massage/chiro care, etc.

Has anyone used a maternity belt? If so, what kind did you use and what was your experience. I'm not on my feet standing all that often, so if it only helps in that scenario, it's probably not worth it for me.

Just looking for other's experiences. I did not have this type of back pain with my singleton pregnancy.

Honestly, it seems to depend on the user. I'd read a lot of positive reviews b4 I bought a prenatal cradle at about 22weeks along or so. I used it exactly three times and it's been hanging in my closet since then. I had one of the ones that goes up over your shoulders and between your breasts. I found it to be very uncomfortable, way more unpleasant than my achy back.
I've heard that some insurance companies will pay for one with a prescription from your doc. I'd try that before shelling out any money, + in that situation they are supposed to make one to your specific measurements. Good luck!

Around the same time, I bought a "boppy" brand support belt and after trying it one time I immediately put it back in the box in returned it. It was worthless, absolutely no support for my back. As luck would have it my back pain tapered off and I didn't need anything for a while. However about a month later my stomach muscles were stretched so much that it felt like they were tearing apart. I went back to "Babies" to get another belt. The only kind they had left was their generic brand (the one with the duck logo...especially for baby) I was skeptical when I bought it but oh my goodness it's been fantastic!! It gives my belly a comfortable lift and has a huge back support. It even has a removable strap that goes over the top of the belly for extra support, but I haven't even had to use it. I wear it anytime I have to go out, or even just around the house when I know I'll be on my feet, ie to do the ironing, vaccuuming, etc. I would totally recommend it to anyone who needs back and/or belly support!! Who would have known the most inexpensive one would be the best!

I brought the marernity belt from Babies r Us around 21 weeks or so. I spent about $30 on it. It worked great for my back as I could barely walk due to the pain. As another user mentioned, I used it only for a short time too because after a few weeks the back pain went away. I am now 34 weeks and my back feels fine.

I saw a physical therapist during the last few months. She got the insurance to purchase a belt. It helped me alot. Maybe because it was medical equipment quality? Regarless, I'm a big fan.

Thanks for all the advice...I'm definitely going to see about insurance covering one! Also, it's amazing to hear that some of your back pain actually got BETTER. It freaks me out to be this uncomfortable so early...so hoping I get lucky and it eases up just as other pain gets worse!

I could not have made it without my belt. I actually borrowed mine from a coworker, but she got it from Motherhood. It takes soooo much pressure off of your back. Definitely recommend!!

It may have been psychosomatic, but I loved me "Belly Bra" for the last few weeks of pregnancy. That and my compression socks kept me alive.

    Good luck!
