So we have been winging it for close to a year, and it has happened. I was in shock, especially as I took bactrim in early pregnancy (before I knew) and it isn't that safe.. So I am still unsure if this is really a viable pregnancy, but I guess time will tell. I have a dr's appt next Thursday, maybe she will do an ultrasound, I would be around 6 weeks I think, so I guess it would still be very early.

Anyway, the twins are 4 tomorrow, and I'm mostly nervous as I didn't really think it would happen, but hopefully I will start to feel more excited and less scared :)

I think whether it's a surprise or not, every pregnancy is a little scary when it first hits you that it's really 'happened.' I know for all 4 of my pregnancies I've started off with the feeling of 'eeeeek... what did we just do??!!!' LOL.

Congratulations!! I'm sure your little ones will be thrilled with a new sibling. Hope you have a very healthy 9 months. Don't worry too much about what you took. The baby gets nourishment from the yoke sac for the first few weeks...so until that placenta kicks in the risk is minimized. I don't think the placenta fully kicks in until 12 weeks, so most women have plenty of warning time to avoid possible harmful things.

I know the feeling. I'm pregnant after about 3 years of trying for my twins, and I was really worried int he beginning. I hope you get time to adjust and things work out well for you.

Thanks Ladies. I got a beta back today it as 1207 I think at 5 weeks, which might be ok, but my progesterone was 10.9, which doctor says is fine, but sounds low to me (based on my google research :) ) I don't really want to take progesterone supplements or anything, because I feel like I don't want to prolong this pregnancy if the baby isn't healthy. (also doctor didn't offer them, so she thinks it is unecessary) My body is capable of producing enough progesterone, so maybe the low number means something. Who knows, I'm just taking it day by day and trying to feel happy for each day the little one is with me.

Before my twins I took progesterone once to try to rescue a pregnancy that I knew in my heart I was loosing. It did just draw out the loss and I ended up with a D&C instead of just misscarrying on my own. But if your doctor is not worried, try not to be either. It sounds like you have the right attitude and I'm sure that once it gets to be time to tell your twins they will be so thrilled. I know mine are.

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to update. I had a repeat beta on Tuesday and the results were 7152, and progesterone was up to 24.7. Doctor said it was perfect. I went to the doctor today. I would have guessed I am 5w6d, but we didn't see a heartbeat yet. I think she said she saw the yolk sac, don't remember if she said fetal pole or not. Anyway, she everything looked good, meaning it wasn't a large empty sac where they would suspect a problem, it is just too early to see. She took another beta that I'll get back tomorrow. She wasn't concerned with the antibiotic I took in early pregnancy or anything else really.

I have another appt for Jan 4th, but if I am too anxious I can either go next week to her, or go to the previous appt with another doctor on Dec 24th. We'll see.. I'm feeling a bit better about this, and spoke to DH, he is a bit scared as well, but I think he is a bit excited also.

Well, some bad news today. The numbers are not increasing very much. According to http://www.betabase.info My doubling time is 86.7. If we take into consideration that first test was in afternoon, second test in morning. This is pretty unusual this early in pregnancy, but I guess not unheard of. My number went from 7152 to 10167 in about 42 hours. I am coming down with a cold today, not feeling well, my throat hurts a lot. I was getting some shooting pains in the stomach last night as I was fighting with my son to NOT nurse before 5:30am in the morning. Completely ridiculous that I have to still fight with my 4 year olds about nursing, but I digress.

Anyway, I'll see the doctor on Monday at 3:15pm, so we'll see if it turns around, I'm sure stranger things have happened, but I'll try not to get my hopes up too much.

In typical bad office practices, she, the assistant, calls me and tells me 'your numbers are normal'.. I said what are they? She told me the number. I said 'did you compare to other number?' 'oooh.. hold on, not sure if the doctor saw this'.. whatever. Also progesterone went down a bit to 19.7. Nothing they can do this early really, so we'll see how the weekend goes, I have a final on Sunday, great! And i'll update you guys when I know something.

    Thanks,
    Stacy
