So my girls are 4 months old - just about - and they had been eating around 8pm falling asleep for a little while and then eating again around 10:30pm (sometimes I have to wake them) and sleeping until 5am. Then I met a mom at the peds office and she had 6 month olds and they went to bed at 7, and woke up twice in the night.

So I am just wondering: at 4 months old what was your bed time/bed time routine?

My girls go to bed between 7 and 8pm. At about 6 or 630 they have dinner (yummy yummy rice cereal!), get in the bath, lotion up, pajamas, nurse, and then off to bed. I sing to them and rub their heads or pat their butts until they are very sleepy but not asleep. If they are really fussy, I rub their backs before I put them down. I think the bath really lets them know its bed time.

At that time I think they were going to bed at 6:30 (now at ll months 7). My routine starts about 5.

5pm baths both babies every night at that age.
At that time I was still nursing, so after bath nurse (now bottle)
Burp and a little cuddle time
    then off to bed.
Colin would go down ok, Lia usually took a bit longer. However, it was about this Time once she fell asleep she was STTN. Colin was still getting up once or twice tell about 5/6 months. But I think he was only waking up because he was cold (gets very cold here in winter).

Now they go to bed at 7 and sleep tell about 8 usually. Sometimes I have to get them up at 7 (other kids go to school) and some times they sleep in tell 9.

So both of you have said 6:30 or 7 - so I must ask how much were they eating during the day (how many times and how much)?

what time did they wake up?

My kids never go to bed that early, but that's our schedule. I prefer they aren't up at the crack of dawn so I don't push it! ;)

At 4 months they would have their last bottle around 10:30 or so and go to bed by 11. Now at 9.5 months they have their last bottle around 9:30-10 and in bed no later than 10:30. We are trying to lose their 3rd nap so I'm trying to get their schedule moved up another 1/2 hr or hour.

They nurse so I don't have an "ounce" amount for how much they eat during they day, but they nurse every 2.5 hours during the day. They normally wake up at 8am but want to go down for their morning nap by 9. They also wake up 1-2 times during the night just to eat and get new diapers.

Mine were nursing about every 2 hrs or so. They nursed a lot. lol. Like I said Lia was STTN and when Colin woke up he nursed, but usually not that long. I also made mine take 1 nap a day. From 11:30- 2:30. I have another napper in the house and if the babies had 2 naps a day, I would have a napping child ALL day long. From 9 am to 5 pm! That was NOT going to work.

My boys are 4.5 months and they both go to bed around the same time. Jacob eats every 4 hours and takes four 8 ounce bottles a day. His last bottle is at 7:00pm and is in bed by 8:00pm. Carter is a little different. He eats 5-7 ounces every 2.5-3hrs. He usually takes 6 bottles a day...sometimes only 5. And he is usually in bed by 9:00. They both sleep until 6-7am. (no night wakings)

At 4 months we were just getting to a solid bed time routine. I don't know what took us so long, but it seemed to work out ok because both babies were sleeping through the night at 4 1/2 months. At that time, our routine was a bath every other night, bottle, rocking/cuddling and bed by 7 or 7:30 and they would sleep until 7am.

at 4 mos we were doing a dreamfeed around 10ish.
so they would eat around 7, 8:00, fall asleep and we would dreamfeed them about 3 hours later.

I worked hard to get their bedtime down. It took about 2 months since we brought them home for it to stick. I wanted to get it down since I also have a 2 year old at home and sometimes I have to put the kids to bed by myself

They go to bed at 6pm (tried to get it at 7 but since the time change, they will not budge so oh well). We just change them into their night clothes and give them a full bottle then put them in bed and leave. I wish I could give them a bath more regularly but just can't. They still do get up once during the night for a full bottle. I wish they would sleep all the way through, I am sure they should be. My boy gets up about 3-4 am then sleeps until 6:30ish. My girl (who is way smaller) is very unpredictable, she can get up from midnight until 4ish. But usually only gets up once and she gets up about the same time as the boy. Thankfully my husband takes care of the girl so doesn't bother me!

At 6 months bedtime isn't a big hassle, THANK YOU! But can be a lot to do with 3 kids under 3. :shok:

Now they have colds and naps are really bad these days so nighttime is very important. Fortunately their nighttime sleep hasn't been affected.

I am hoping soon they will be sleeping through the night. I just don't mind it how it is now so I don't do anything about it. :good:

At 4 months we would start the bedtime routine at 6:30 or 7 (usually 7 but if really showing tired signs we would put them to bed a little earlier). They would get their pj's on and then we use a dark room and music to signal bedtime. They would nurse and then go to bed. We did a dream feed about 11 PM where they would take an 8 oz bottle and then sleep the rest of the night until about 6:30 or 7 AM when if they weren't up already I would wake them so I could nurse them before I leave for work. The schedule is still about the same now at 6 mo except that DD no longer needs the dreamfeed and DS has been waking more this last few weeks due to teething.

At 4 months (and still at 6mths) they went to sleep between 6:30-8pm and wake at 6am. They nurse 2-4 times during that period. In my opinion, babies who sleep all night long at that age are the exception.

I'm a lot like Danibell. I'd rather them go to bed later and not get up at the crack of dawn

My boys are 5 months actual, 2.5 months adjusted. They have been sleeping through the night since the beginning of November, so they would have been about 2 weeks adjusted at the time. At that time they were going to bed at 7pm and waking up at about 5am. Another 2 weeks went by and it was go to bed at 7pm and wake up at 6am. Then another 2 weeks (so about the beginning of Dec) and they were going 7pm-7am. Within the last couple weeks they started going to bed at 10pm and waking up at 10pm, but at the beginning of this week I decided 10pm was a little bit late for my liking because of the nights I want to give them a bath. So I've pushed it back to 9pm

    So basically our night is:
9pm feed followed by a bath.
They are usually in their footie pjs in their swaddle blankets by 9:45pm.

It doesn't take much of anything to get them to sleep. Once they are swaddled and their mobile is on they are slowly drifting off into sleep. And continue to sleep until 9am.

ETA: They eat 6oz (with 3 scoops of rice cereal in their bottles) at 9am, 1pm, 5pm, & 9pm. Therefore, they get about 24oz plus 12 scoops of rice cereal.
