i know it's a little late now, but just curious. i'm sure that our santa pics tomorrow will include 2 screaming babies. last year, my girls were just 6 months and elena was already terrified of santa and cried for the picture. sadie didn't seem to care. but now i can foresee them both crying and being scared. do you think it's best to just have the pics of them crying with santa, or should i try to include myself in the pics somehow to try and calm them down, even though it may not work?

we had a frightful experience at my work Christmas party... and afterwards I thought that I was a bit rushed with it all... I think the next time we see Santa we'll try to explain a little more, and just say "oh look, see Santa in his red coat and hit big white beard... can you sit with Santa?" and such... instead of just plopping them down on his lap! ours will usually go to anyone, so it took me by surprise. I'll be interested in what others have to say - any bits of wisdom would be great for our next time...

Last year my girls were 6 months old and they did great. I was expecting the worst. But when I was talking to Santa he told me next year will be harder and that I shouldn't let them see him beforehand and to bring the girls into him with their backs to him and place them on his lap. So I have yet to do the our Santa picture this year, but I'm going to try it that way and see what happens!

my girls were 5 months last year (no problem at all!) and 17 months this year (BIG problem!). i dressed nicely & put some effort into my hair/make up because i was pretty sure i would end up in the pic. i tried putting the girls on Santa's lap, but they both immediately started screaming & arching & trying to get away - Santa just looked at me and said, through gritted teeth, "This isn't working". so i ended up in the pic holding both girls. and you can totally tell they had just been screaming. i agree with Liz though - the screaming/crying pictures are funny to look back on. and they're kind of a right of passage. so i wouldn't worry about it too much. can't wait to see your pic! :D

this year's pic is the first one in this thread.

I also agree. The first few years of Santa pics of me that my mother has are of me screaming bloody murder on his lap. I was terrified of Santa as a child. But I do look back on those pictures and laugh. I still can't believe, even though she knew what would happen, my Mom insisted on Santa pic.
Good luck and screaming or not, it's going to a picture to treasure!

Oh man, that is the funniest picture! I just love the look on Santa's face.

I haven't decided if we're going to have the boys see Santa. I guess it depends on if we have time for it; DH and I are working a lot of weekends before Xmas. If we do, I'm fully prepared for screaming meltdowns. Or more likely, I'll have 1 boy screaming (Jack) and the other smiling happily (Nate). I think that would make a great picture too. ;)

We did get a couple cuteish (aka not crying) ones with me holding the boys and standing behind Santa, but I think this one is hilarious.
