So, I am exactly 7 weeks today and have had light spotting since last night. How many of you experieinced spotting in erly pregnancy? This is an IVF prenancy and I am on progesterone, so my risk of spotting is even higher. We had an ultrasound on Tuesday where we found out it was twins and had perfect heartbeats abd measured right where they should. My spotting is super light, not even coming out onto my underwear, but it is there almost every time I wipe in varying amounts and I am worried. The doctor's office actually told me to expect it with IVF, progesterone, and twins, but I can't help worrying! Thanks in advance for helping me calm down!

I have IVF twins, too. I noticed some spotting on the progresterone supp applicator each time I pulled it out from about 4-7 weeks. I was told this was normal b/c our cervix has been so 'invaded' by all the medical procedures. Not that this is the case for you, but I did experience heavier bleeding as well a few weeks after the spotting due to a subchorionic hematoma...it was very scary, but my twins were and are fine and the hematoma healed. Just keep in close communication with your RE. I would also HIGHLY recommend a perinatologist (and get one soon) for twins with a history of infertility. I'm sooooooo glad that I'm with a specialist (and have been since 6.5 weeks!).

Hey Eve, I think I know you from SheKnows IVF - I am ItzN3759 on there and on Due in June/July! I will see my RE every other week until 10 weeks and then I will start seeing a perinatologist total care doctor (I will see her exclusively and she will even deliver). My RE already has my file ready to go as soon as I sign at my next appointment on the 8th.
    Thanks,
    tasha

We did IVF/ICSI and I had spotting at 8 weeks. Since it was brown, I was told that it was probably old blood, to drink water and rest. I was in for a regularly scheduled ultrasound at the RE's shortly after that and everything looked good. Perhaps you have something similar going on? I wish you the best!

Thanks ladies, seems to be stopping again and hopefully this will be it. The annoying part is that I have been "taking it easy" all week since I haven't had to go to work. I did shop yesterday, but only for about 2 hours and I wasn't rushing around. Monday I go back to work and as a kindergarten teacher I am on my feet all day, hopefully it doesn't aggrevate whatever problem there is. Praying that these babies settle down in there! My DH says I just need to put them in time out ;)

It is hard not to worry that's for sure. Spotting is very common in early pregnancy.

I spotted lightly between 4 to 8 wks, and when I went to get an ultrasound to see why I was spotting, was when we saw I was having twins. I haven't spotted since then and at 18 weeks everything is fine.

    hello and welcome!
I had spotting very similar to what you described. I also did IVF and was on progesterone. It went away after the first several weeks. Do you have frequent u/s with your RE to help your peace of mind?

    Good luck to you!!

I didn't spot, but I BLED bright red blood for two weeks in my first pregnancy, and on three separate occasions in this one: 7 weeks, 9 weeks, and 13 weeks. Each for days.

Both preg turned out fine. :) Spotting is pretty common early on as the placenta is forming and attaching itself.

    Hi!

I had 2 fresh and 2 frozen IVF procedures. I spotted with all of them at about 5 or 6 weeks and then with the two pregnancies that progressed, I spotted again slightly at the end of the first trimester. I don't think its indicative of anything wrong, just the medications. You'll be just fine.

    Tasha!!!!

An 'SK' IVF buddy friend!!!! I'm so beyond thrilled for you that you are pregnant with twins! I've just recently found the TwinsStuff forum...wished I'd found it sooner! The multiples board on SK is pretty slow. Hope you're doing better the past few days!!!!!

Thank you ladies, it started again Friday evening a bit heavier so i called the RE, she said it is common but we are scheduled for an u/s tomorrow to check things out, praying that all is well!

Thanks Eve, we have had a bunch of BFPs lately on the IVF board and we are soo excited to have twins. We haven't told anyone that it is twins, we are trying to out for Christmas, but we'll see ;)

I also did IVF and took supplemental progesterone. I understand how unnerving it is to deal with spotting - talk about anxiety. I spotted heavily from wks 6-10 and then a little bit here and there until wk 13ish. Glad your RE is open to having you go in for a look-see. My RE said that it's especially common in twin pregnancies and w/ those who did IVF. Best wishes to you!

I spotted with my twins too. In fact, my first ultrasound only showed one baby. I started spotting and went in thinking the worst and that's when I saw two babies with two strong heartbeats.

Thank you, it helps so much to know that you aren't the only one - it is different than being told by a doctor that you aren't the only one LOL. The ultrasound went well - babies are measuring on-time/ahead at 7w3d and 7w5d with perfect heartbeats and there was no blood at all in the uterus. They are attributing the spotting to progesterone suppositories so I feel SO much better! I hope this is the end of the spotting for me so I don't have to worry about it. They also moved my next appointment to the 15th so I will just see my RE one more time and then move on the the perinatologist/MFM.
