What color tights

We're thinking about putting the girls in their Christmas dresses today to see if we can get a cute picture to include in Christmas cards. They have little red velvet dresses and black shoes. Should they have black tights to go with it? Do they make black tights for little girls? Last year they wore white tights but they didn't wear shoes yet. It seems like white tights and black shoes would look weird. I'm soooooo NOT good at fashion. Help me!

 

I would probably do white or red. I don't know, black seems to "grown up" for little ones.

 

I would do white, unless the reds match exactly. It'll stand out too much in the photo if the reds don't quite match up. Santa wears red, black and white together, and he looks fabulous!

 

I would say white too I love the little black shoes with white tights Tis the season when I get jealous of all the little dresses and the few boy clothes to pick from!

Normally I'm also opposed to white socks/tights and black shoes -- way too Michael Jackson IMHO -- but at Christmas, it works.

My girls have red silk dresses with black plaid on them this year, and we are doing white tights and black patent leather shoes. I'll post pics after I pick them up this weekend (we had portraits taken yesterday), but it does look cute.

 

my girls did white tights & black patent Mary Janes (so classic) for their pics this year - you can check out how it looks in the first photo in the 2009 Santa photos sticky if you'd like. i'm very partial to white tights & black shoes myself - at least for young girls.

 

I bought Lily black tights to go with the red dress with black polka dots on it. I bought black shoes, but Thanksgiving day I barely got them on her feet, so I ordered some red "glitter" shoes from the Children's Place on black Friday. I could not find red tights at all. I am more bummed she out grew ONE pair of her size 5 shoes, the black mary jane dress shoes, and all the other size 5's fit.

I am also wondering if the tights stay up or do I need a little diaper pant. This will be our first experience with tights. All her dresses were summer dresses. How do your girls do with tights? Do they keep them on?

 

white is nice and classic with black shoes. but my dd and i tend to be fashion-y so i'd go black myself.

 

My girls have black tights and they're cute, but I would do red dress, white tights, black shoes. They make red tights too, which we have, but I'd still do white tights. We got our black, white, and red tights from Target.

My vote is for white. Unless you want to be fun and funky, you could do red and white striped tights. My DD has white tights with pink and silver snowflakes on them.
We've had no problems with tights staying on.

We have red/black plaid skirts and a red and black shirt that goes with them. I was thinking of doing black tights and black shoes. I thought white wouldn't go. I'll have to try both and see what I think. I think it depends on the dress/skirt.

 

i bought the girls 2 santa outfits and they came with white tights and pretend black shoes on the bottom so cute! it was perfect combo-the white and red work very well together-but black tights are only good if you want all black outfit .

 

I would do white or black. If you have the white already then I say use those.

Depending on exactly how well they fit her (I've found that when tights are starting to be too small they come down more) they should stay up fine. If she's wearing a onesie vest you can do that up over, instead of under, the tights and that will keep them up. My girls generally kept/keep their tights on-as much as socks anyway!

You were all right. The white tights look super cute. We tried and tried to get a good picture the other day, but only got one that was even halfway cute (and their tights don't even show in it...LOL).
