my LO woke up screaming like a mad man this morning. he never wakes up screaming. we went in, picked him up and the screams (like screetching screams) and he wouldn't open his eyes for about 30 mins. we got him back asleep for about 10 mins and then again, woke up screaming and wouldn't open his eyes. put the TV on and he finally opened his eyes and he rubbed them for about 30 mins during his morning bottle and breakfast. i just held him and put him back down. his eye is red and watery but im not sure if he's tired, had a nightmare, has an eye infection or what.

    any thoughts?

Sounds like conjunctivitis. Were his eyelashes matted shut with green or yellow junk?

I would just keep an eye on it. Conjunctivitis can be viral but if you start seeing yellowish or greenish goop coming from his eye or he wakes up with the lashes matted together, it might be bacterial & he might need some antibiotic drops to clear it up. It could be that his eye is just irritated from getting something in it & will clear up on it's own fairly quickly.

I thought the same thing. Do you bf? My website viewing is limited from my phone so I don't know anything about you :) if you have any of your milk you can drop it into his eyes and it can cure it. Google it :) My BIL used it for him when I was bfing Jocelyn. He's such the natural type lol.

I've done the breastmilk in the eye too - and it works! Its like a natural antibiotic! It can even just soothe it even if its viral.

i think he has viral conjunctivitis; there is no discharge except for a TON of watering and he is light sensitive. he barely opened his eyes at all today.
will breasmilk work for viral pink eye?
