We have our first friend (from school) birthday party this Saturday! I'm pretty excited. We've been to friends birthday parties but they were family friends, not friends from school. I'm not sure how much to spend on this little girl? I do plan on getting one gift from each child but not sure if $20 per gift would be too much? too little? Let me know what you all think...

    :thanks:

Depends on how good the friend is  For just classmates I spend about $10-15. If it were the girl that Leah was talking about every day when she gets home or a neighbor across the street I would spend more a little more, but not much.

I agree with Rachel- $10ish dollars unless they are REALLY good friends. Plus you can get a really nice gift for $10 (and you are getting two gifts for the little girl). Have fun!

    Thank you ladies!! :give_rose:

I'm not sure I'd call her a "good" friend :pardon: Right now everyone is their best friend. I think $10 each sounds good. Thanks!!

For preschool friends I would spend about $10-$12 for a gift from each of them.

My DD has gone to two birthday parties and had one of her own. It seemed all the gifts given/received were about $10-15.

I also vote for $10-15. If you want to do one gift from each, then two little things like two My Little Ponies or two coloring books, etc. My standard "I have no clue what to get this kid" gift is a coloring book and/or pad of paper, washable markers, paints, crayons, maybe some stickers, stuff along those lines.

It must be a regional thing, because $20 to $25 is common in our area for a classmate birthday gift.

Looks like everyone is on the same page.....I was going to say $10, too.

Thank you for the ideas!!! :give_rose:

From each kid? So like spending $50 on their friend?

I agree- I think I'd spend $10-15 per child, maybe more depending on how well we knew the child. Hope everyone has fun at the party!

It does seem steep, doesn't it? K&K haven't started going to friend birthday parties yet, so I haven't thought about the gift-times-two thing yet. But, Nadia has been taking $20 to $25 gifts to parties for a few years now.

Actually, she is good friends with the twins next door, who are exactly one year older...and yes, we took each of them a gift for that amount.

This is my standard 6-year-old girl gift this year:

And, this is my standard boy gift:

Sometimes I buy a small item to go with it, depending on how well we know the boy. I do get Learning Express coupons in the mail, and they gift-wrap for free. :good:

Nadia had twins come to her 3-year-old birthday party, and they did each bring her a gift in this price range. It must just be our area!

I think it's closer to $20 here too. We haven't had school friend parties yet, but we've been to family friends parties where they had school friends there. None of them are twins, but the range seemed to be 15-20 a gift. So far (the boys are only 2) I've been taking one bigger gift and they've ranged from $25-40 for the three parties we've been to.

We have been to a couple friend birthday parties from preschool and have brought a gift from each of the girls in the $10-15 dollar range. We've got one coming up this weekend in fact . . .
