when did you move out of the crib size bed?

I've been keeping an eye out lately on craigslist for beds. There's no rush, since they still fit in their beds fine; but they're just the converted cribs & I think it'd be nice to have "big kid" beds. I found a nice bunkbed set on craigslist for $100, and you can separate the beds. So I think I could almost sell my cribs for enough to pay for the bunkbed. But when I tried to look on craigslist for convertible cribs, I couldn't find any to compare prices to.

So if you sold your cribs, what age were the kids? How much did you sell them for?

The bunkbeds are only twin size, so I don't know if I should wait and hold out for something bigger. Our house has large rooms & dh thinks we should wait a few years & get queen size. That seems too much to me; I think if we went bigger than a twin a full bed would be plenty. He also has no idea how much beds cost.

I tried and tried to sell a crib on Craigslist and never got a bite. The price was definitely right. Maybe you'll have better luck in a different region, but I thought with Michigan's economy I'd have some interest.

I ended up donating it to my daycare's garage sale.

We are still using our convertibles: once cribs, now toddler beds w/ rails. We hope to keep them in until age 5 and then do bunk beds to open up some space in their room.

I dont know if we would see them----but probably for comparable price to a resale shop. For some reason they dont sell well from individuals (I think people worry about dating and safety), resale shops have to check them before they can sell so people feel 'safer'. Though how well they are checked is questionable.

Mine both moved to twin beds a few months ago. Our cribs were originally about $500, and the mattresses were the crazy Moonlight Slumber ones for $250 each.

Still, there is very little resale on both items, for safety reasons. I sold one crib/mattress set on CL for $125. The other crib is in poor shape (and duct-taped together right now, LOL), so I'll donate it if anyone wants it, or throw it out. I'm hoping to sell the mattress, though.

We moved the girls from cribs to toddler beds around 19 months, and plan to move to twin beds soon; the girls will be 2.75 or so. I tried to sell our original convertible cribs last year on Craigslist but didn't get any takers (I had them listed for $50 each - no mattress, and they were in perfect shape). I'll try again in a few months, but like the PPs have said, there really doesn't seem to be much of a market for used cribs and mattresses near me.

This is not encouraging to me :( I listed our cribs on CL last week and haven't had any takers. They are in perfect condition and are matching so I thought a twin mommy-to-be would jump all over them. I will wait a little longer, reduce the price, and may eventually donate them.

Oh and mine are in toddler beds and will be for awhile before we go to either a full size or twin size bed.

We moved my twin girls to bunk bed earlier this year. They will be four next month. We haven't done anything yet with their cribs. My mom wanted them for my nephew and was going to ship them across the US, but hasn't gotten to that yet.

Just thought I would add this, in case anyone else was wondering the same thing.....but I asked my babysitter today what size bed she has, since she's 14. She has a twin size bed, but she says she has to line the floor around her with pillows b/c she's always falling off her bed b/c it's too small. :(

Wow! I was in a twin until I got married- then the 2 of us had a Full for 5 years ( I am 5'4" and DH is 6'3"), it was a bit squishy, but mostly becuase it was too short for DH. Now we have a Queen and it is plenty big!!
