Twin Cravings

I don't have MAJOR cravings, but I have noticed repetitive eating patterns.

With my first pregnancy, a boy, I craved veggies, guacamole, and black olives ALL THE TIME and also very spicy food. I would come home from work, pick a bunch of veggies out of the garden and load up my plate. I still ate meat and stuff, but I just could not get enough vegetables! Didn't crave sweet stuff AT ALL.

This pregnancy, two girls, I have craved more salty foods. I still eat veggies and fruit, but I found myself going through BAGS of pumpkin seeds. Something I probably haven't really eaten since grade school. Also pickles and greek pepperoncini. I haven't eaten nearly as healthy this pregnancy... lots of fast food and frozen dinners which I contribute to lingering nausea and therefore an absolute lack of desire to cook. But again, lots of salt there. And again, NO SWEETS. Dessert type foods just make me nauseous. The sweetest food I can stand is fruit. And it has to be fresh or dried... nothing canned.

I have had no swelling in either pregnancy, thank goodness.

What about everyone else? I love to hear the crazy things people crave. :)

Whenever I eat yams, my girls kick up a storm. I haven't had any cravings since my first trimester, but at that time I was craving subway style sandwiches from Quiznos and In and Out Burger hamburgers... and I hadn't eaten red meat in 12 years.

I had major cravings for mexican food and sunny d. The girls love both :pardon:

I also have had an aversion to sweets...hard to believe as a former chocoholic :) The thing I crave the most is milk...ice cold skim milk!!! I drink probably close to a half gallon a day!!

Me too with the milk! I am drinking 1% or 2% as the babies need that extra fat to plump up but I go through gallons so quickly it's amazing! I can't remember the last time I drank a plain glass of milk before getting pregnant.

I'm loving milkshakes as well, but I think that is just the same as the milk craving. Nothing else that I've really registered as a "craving".

    This is a great topic.

    With my pregnancies:

    1. DS - spinach and pizza.
    2. DD - ice chips
    3. DS - super spicy foods (pad thai, laab salads with thai chiles, and spicy coconut curry)
    4. ID Twins DD & DD - ice chips

With all three of my girls, I guess I suffer(ed) from a serious iron deficiency b/c I just can't get enough ice chips.

With DS I was totally into the ice chips too! Sno Cones with no flavoring were the must have "food" during that pregnancy. With this twin pregnancy I can't get enough sour flavors! And I totally understand the aversion to sweets or desserts - can't eat too much of those.

In my first trimester I was super sick, but LOVED grapefruit and mango sorbet - so weird! When I would eat those foods, they would taste like the best thing in the whole world - it was really cool (the only good thing about the first 15 weeks!).

Now, I crave deli sandwiches (like some PPs), which stinks because I know you aren't supposed to eat too much deli meat. I also noticed that I've become much more "picky" then I normally am. If I eat something that doesn't sound good (e.g. because I'm a guest or because I already prepared it for dinner), I'll feel nauseated.

I crave the milk too! Fat free skim and it has to be FREEZING cold! Before I got pregnant I was a huge sweets eater...and a little overweight because of it, too. Now I can't even stand to drink a soda (too sweet and the thought of it just makes my stomach turn) and candy is just a turn off. However I do like to suck on Werther's Original Toffee candies.

No real cravings though...just I'm loving the milk right now!

I have actually gone off my favourite-cheesecake! It used to be my favourite 'treat' but now I can only have a little bit occasionally. :unknw:
I too have been more into salty foods than sweets. Also so far my appetite is no where near as big as it used to be. I still eat, but nowhere nearly as much as I used to.

I could not agree with you more! My portions sizes are so small. I just don't have the room for it. Let's hope I can continue with these small portion sizes after the girls are born. :)

OH MY I am SO with you on this. I know sushi is a no-no but it was the only thing I could stomach for a while. (I tried to mostly get cooked stuff, but occasionally...) I could seriously eat sushi EVERY day for EVERY meal and never get sick of it. Thankfully, the closest place is an hour away or I would be BROKE! But I go every time I have a Dr. appt. :)
Japanese food and Thai food. Oh how heavenly. I've been getting Pad Thai a lot lately.

CHEESE glorious cheese! I have already gone through a block of Tilamook cheddar from Costco . It was ridiculously huge and should have fed a small army, instead it just fed me.

With this pregnancy the only thing I'm craving is what I can't have (due to reflux issues) But definitely no sweets - more salt and dairy products

With DD#1 - salsa and chips then salads - sweets every so often
With DD#2 - brownies initially .. then nothing DH ended up wanting tabasco all the time
