I know I have seen this on here before about the Gro clock by Gro Company, problem is, I can only find it available in the UK with no delivery to the US. I thought I saved the link but I cannot find it. My boys are waking me before 6am every morning and this clock would hopefully help...thanks.

I don't recognize that clock, but I have recommended the Teach me Time clock. You can see/buy it here:

We have two, one for each kid (since they are in separate rooms) and it has worked very well for us. I did turn off the teaching part for now, so that they wouldn't be tempted to listen to the clock in the middle of the night; there's no doubt that I would be woken some night by a computerized voice saying, "Three...forty...five...A...M...." But the color change bit is awesome and really works for us! We reinforce the lesson each night before bed, "What do you do when your clock is yellow?" "Stay in bed and go back to sleep." "And when it's green?" "Get out of bed and play quietly in my room, and no going to other rooms until you come get us up." The color change doesn't make any noise, so it won't wake the child if they want to sleep later. The light is not prohibitively bright at night, and by the time it turns green, the daylight is just beginning, so it works out. We have the yellow set to come on at 7:30 PM as the night light, the green comes on at 7 AM as the wake up signal, and turns off at 8 AM, and the clock no longer glows until the next 7:30 PM. It's easy to adjust for time changes, easy to set (once you've read the instructions), and very durable. It's gone with us on every trip so far. Highly recommended. And really works to keep the kids in bed. And has a choice between traditional face, digital face, or a combo of both (our setting). Let me know if you have additional questions.

Cool! More converts! Glad you like this. It's really worked well for us, and will be a great time teacher soon, as the kids are really starting to show interest in that subject. Well worth the price, IMO.

I have never clicked on the link when y'all recommended this clock before, but I finally did today and it looks great. I've just added it to the girls Christmas wish list.

I was just debating this clock the other day for my random early risers (4:48am last Saturday!).

At what age do you think you can START using it? I just wonder if my boys would understand the color thing (they know colors, so that's not an issue).

In your experience, what age works best to introduce this clock or others like it?

When they can understand colors and instructions. Might take some training, but should start working between 2 & 3, I'd think.

I'm going to introduce this now (my girls are exactly two and a half). I don't think they'll have any issues understanding the concept, and probably would have understood several months ago. Getting them to "obey" will be the challenge!

I ordered it yesterday. I honestly don't know how a light is going to keep them from freaking out in their cribs when I don't come but I'm taking your successes as gospel and crossing my fingers. This 4:00 am thing is killing me. Do you think I can go straight to 6:30 (which would give us an hour of playtime before I have to get ready for work) or do you think that is too much of a stretch and I should do it in increments.

We just went straight to the times we wanted to train the kids to. They weren't waking up that early, however, I'd still start out with 7 AM and see if they can work with it. It may take some time for them to get used to it. Might take some crying when you don't come get them at 4 AM ... Might take a week of popping in just as their clock changes so that they get used to associating the green with your appearance. You will decide what works best for your family and how to deal with the change. Good luck.
