Take Along Thomas OR GeoTrack?

My only son was two in June. He LOVES Thomas the Train. He really has only seen the show - which he LOVES - and he has a couple of the cars. My DH and I were originally going to get home the GeoTrak Train with remote. However, I saw the Take Along Thomas advertised and I am wondering what is the better buy.

For anyone who has kids that own these toys, can you please head me in the right direction?

I don't know what the Take Along Thomas is, but we have the GeoTrax train station and pieces, airport tower, fly by barn, and fly through bridge. The kids really enjoy them, but it does take up a lot of floor space. However, there are a lot of pieces to it, can be expanded and re-routed many different ways. So, I really like the GeoTrax offerings, but don't know how it compares to the TAT. Hopes that helps a little

We have the geotrax and have had them for about two years. The girls still love to play with them. I like them because they are easy to use and they canuse them with the battery powered trains or the regular push trains

We've had the Thomas and the Geo Trax for my grandsons. The twins are 2 1/2 and the baby is 1 1/2. The geo trax are much tougher made. They stand up very well to what toddlers can put them through. The remote trains are a little sturdier. The tracks are a little harder for them to put together but really are fairly easy - the big boys put theirs together all the time. There was no problem putting the Thomas Tracks together - that was easy as well, but the trains and remotes were not nearly has heavy duty. They could manage to mangle and break the wiring between the engine and cars in a matter of days where the geo trax engines and cars - they've been playing with since they were just over 1. We finally gave up on the Thomas set even though the boys love Thomas and now we just add to the geo trax. We have a set of train tracks at our house for the boys set up in the living room - bridges, tunnels, elevations, switches, etc. It's pretty big but you can set up the tracks as small or as elaborate as you like. There are tons of add ons that you can get for the geo trax. We have an entire city set up for the boys and we run multiple trains on the tracks. You can go on line and print out various set ups for the tracks as well. After I bought the initial tracks and sets and trains and remotes at the store, I found I could get lots of extra pieces on ebay.

We have GeoTrax and the Lego Duplo Thomas the Train set. Both are great and both our DD and DS love playing with them. As another member has posted...GeoTrax does take up a lot of room. I think it is also a little more difficult for a child to put together by him/herself. The Lego Duplo set is very easy and it is compatible to other Duplo sets. Overall, we feel both toys are good investments. :)

We love GeoTrax here too! Both my boys and girls play with it an even amount of time. It's been fun to add new pieces at birthdays and Christmas. We first started with a very, very nice used set from eBay and have been expanding ever since. Favorite toy in the house by far. I agree with the other people it does take up a bit of room. We used those link floor tiles on the basement floor for where we set up the track. Fisher Price currently has free shipping until Nov. 11.

We have GeoTrack and my boys love them, as do their firends who come over to play. They seem very durable and there is so much that you can do with them.

We have both...sort of. We have the Thomas set at our house and my mother in law has a huge GeoTrax set at her house, which they LOVE! In my opinion, the Geotrax is the better buy because it's made so much better. My guys are also big fans of Thomas and like that they have a Thomas, Percy, Salty etc. to move around the track, but I think they enjoy Geotrax a bit more. :)

I prefer the Thomas because it's smaller and doesn't take up as much space... so we bought him thomas... But my mom got him geo trax...thanks mom... and he prefers that...by far!! He LOVES using the remote control. They will still play thomas, but the geo trax wins out 90% of the time.

We were looking into getting the Geotracks one b/c the kids flip out everytime they see it but...we have been huge fans of Thomas and have many many many sets of the thomas the trains (think storage tub full....) My kids love thomas and there are so many different trains to get whether you use the take along trains or wooden ones (which are move expensive). The track doesnt stay together when they are younger but as they've gotten older, they've learned how to put it together on their own and actually set their own tracks up. There's are batteries to buy for the trains and my kids like to watch how things work, so they lay and watch the trains roll along together. We also bough this train table from walmart and it fits the take along trains as well as the hotwheels cars. what I like about the take alongs is that since my kids loved it to much, we were able to take some trains to the doctors with us, or to relatives and they could be occupied by playing with just the trains... I'd go take along thomas.....

My boys are almost 4.5. We have this train table and the Thomas take-alongs. They got this for Christmas when they were 2.5 and still play with it on occasion, but no as much as they used to. I will likely be selling the train table in the next 6 months. Their Geo Trax (train and airport), on the other hand, THEY LOVE. They got their first little set also at 2.5. We have many sets and they love setting it up so many different ways. They are getting 2 more pieces from Santa this year. It does take up a lot of room but we bring them out and play with them for days and then put them away for a week or 2. They are very sturdy too.
