When did you get rid of the changing table

One of my boys is getting close to being too big to be on the changing table – I think. He kicks at the wipes container and is constantly trying to sit up – changes are such a battle even with a distraction. But I am not looking forward to changing them on the floor all the time either. But I am starting to be concerned that they are going to fall off as they are always trying to sit up or stand up on the table.
    Any suggestions?

Funny you should ask this question.. We've only used our changing table [maybe] 10 times and we just got rid of it last weekend. Before we knew they were twins my MIL went out and bought a really cute changing table that was pretty $$ and when we never used it, she got a little disheartened [IMG] oops.

We've always done diaper changes on the floor with either a pad underneath them or simply a blanket - in case some decides to leak ;) If they get squirmy I give them something to distract them [a wipe usually does the trick] or I put my feet around their sides  sounds awful, but it works for us.

I got rid of the pnp with the changing table portion downstairs a few months back, and just use the floor or the couch with a sheet underneath. Much easier...

We never used a changing table. Just a chaning pad or blanket underneath where ever they are being changed.

Mine is part of the dresser but I've been using it less and less. The main reason is that they are getting really tall and they will kick everything at the end of the table.

It's just been a lot easier lately to change them on the floor.

About 6-7 months. :D My girls were so squirmy and I was just too afraid to have my back to one and change a squirmy other, that I started changing them on the floor and hardly ever used the table again after that. I had a basket full of diapers, wipes, cream, etc. that I would put on a shelf in our dining room so they couldn't get to it. I would grab the basket, their clothes, whatever, and then plop on the floor with them. :good:

We never used a changing table. Just the bed or the floor. Honestly they started moving so much around 6 months, I would probably have given up then anyway.

I am going to say that I stopped using a changing table around 8 months. I have one in the living room and I use that to keep the diapers and supplies on. Mine moved too much for my liking, so I change them on the floor.

We still use ours. They do squirm a lot & kick things, so it's a struggle most of the time. But the main reason we still use it is because DH is 6'2" and it's easier for him to change diapers this way.

I use mine everyday. Is better for my back ;) . Sometimes is easier than other ones and sometimes they kick the wipes container too and I have to literally wrestle whith them, but I have found that I can "control" them better in the changing table that in the floor. I guess that the time will come, but I am not looking forward to changing them on the floor all the time either.

Using it everyday. They do sometimes protest being changed on it, but I just give them another toy and then no problem. My back is doing great!

Mine do the same thing, but I don't want to get rid of it till they are potty trained. I can change them on the floor but my SO can't because of his back and he's the SAHD so he changes them more than me.

We still use ours too...it's one of those with a changing table top attached to a bureau that can (and will!) eventually be removed. It's a struggle lots of times for sure, but so is the floor!

As of this morning I officially stopped using it, they turned 22 months yesterday. I put the changing pad thingy in the closet and will most likely sell it.

When I say "I need to change your diaper" or "do you have a wet diaper?" they will now lay down on the floor and wait for me. :good:

I'm also glad because it frees up the top of the dresser. Jake has yet another runny nose and I need to put a humidifier in their room but did not want to put it on the floor. Now I have a place to put it.

We have always used a changing pad on top of their dresser. I use it sometimes in the morning when I am getting them ready and we use it maybe 3 nights a week after baths. If we are downstairs I change them on the floor or the couch, but in their room there isn't a lot of space to change them on the floor, so we continue to use the dresser. I would guess we will probably stop within the next few months.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Plus they squirm even more when they are anywhere else. I'd rather deal with a struggle on the changing table than on the floor. My back and knees are bad so it just wouldn't work too well. They also seem to prefer the changing table. They squirm, cause it's funny, but not because they don't like it. They also have a changing table preference. I have two tables. A cheap on for one floor and their nice dresser changing table for the floor they are on most of the time. They prefer their dresser and struggle much less on that one. They'll both squirm and scream when on the other one. I think it's just because they don't like it. It's got the same pad on it so it's not a question of being physically uncomfortable.

The top of the dresser in the nursery has a spot for a changing pad, and we've been using it since they were born. They're kind of long for it, but it's still working for now. We also converted their Arms Reach Cosleeper to a changing table and put it downstairs. It's not as high as a regular changing table, but it's large enough to hold a basket of diapers, wipes, etc, and still plenty of room for the boys.

I don't relish the thought of having to change them on the floor (ooh my aching back! ;) ), but the day will probably come.

we moved last month and gave away or tossed the pads we had left at my house and my mom's. i only used one of ours like once/week anyways, so i figured i'd let someone else have it!

we still use ours, and I don't see me doing anything different until they are potty trained. I have a similar height plant stand or something next to the changing table that I have the wipes & stuff on, so the kids aren't too long for the main part of the changing table. works for us still, and ours has drawers in it, so that's where all my cloth diapers etc are, so its pretty handy.

I still use mine. They squirm no matter where you are and I find it easier on the changing table than on the floor.

We still use ours but not for much longer since they are coming up on the weight limit. I told my husband it won't be long before we have to get rid of it and he looked at me in utter confusion and said, "Well then, where will we change them?"

    Men. Too funny!
