I'm just starting the 3rd trimester and I've felt ok recently, except today. I have a desk job but I can't walk too far without getting Braxtons Hicks so I try to just hang out at my desk as much as possible.

I've been sleeping on the couch for the past two weeks because I can't get comfortable in bed. But I feel like I'm starting to be sleep deprived and I just want to sleep most of the day at work.

    What about you guys?

You're singing my song sister. ;)

I am now coming up on 30 weeks and still working my full time desk job. I have the ability of working from home, but like you I am sleep deprived and finding it hard to just do much of anything. At the office, I have to get up often, because I feel like I can't breathe when I'm bent in half at my desk.

At my appointment this week I'm going to start discussing a medical leave. I feel bad asking about it, but honestly I need some sleep and real rest - I'm wearing thin.

I worked up until my 36th week. I can remember feeling very tired towards the end, I also worked a desk job. I think my boss and co-workers were worried that I would give birth because they would have get up as little as possible.
Sleep was tough at the end too, I could not get comfortable and felt like I was up 100x a night to go to the bathroom.

I am 31 weeks and still work "full time" although I now am working a modified schedule where I go home from 1-3 each day (I work from 9am to 6pm) to rest. It has made a huge difference. I still find myself not being as productive as I would like, however, b/c I get up A LOT to pee during the night and just can't get comfortable. I guess I will work until the girls get here or my Dr. tells me to stop, whichever comes first.

Glad it's not just me! Part of me feels bad for complaining because I am so glad to still be going strong with no major issues but I'm getting pooped.

People keep asking me about bedrest but my doctor hasn't said anything about it yet, and I'm very fortunate for not having needed it.

Guess I'll just keep plugging away for now!

You are hardly complaining!! It's tough being pregnant with 2 babies! My OB wanted me to cut back at 28 weeks but I also have a desk job and being at work was where I could get the most rest. I had a foot stool under my desk and I was comfy (as comfy as I could get being pg with twins.) I worked full time right up until I delivered. I wouldn't have been able to do that if I had to spend ANY time on my feet. I have a friend who is a nurse and worked 3rd shift pg with twins and didn't stop working until she hit 32 or 33 weeks (I think, I can't remember but it was longer than I could have done!) I don't know how she did it! Anyway- good luck and I think the best advice would be to listen to your body and don't ever think you're complaining because a twin pregnancy is NOTHING like a singleton!! Take care!

I went part time at 32 weeks (4 hours per day rather than my normal 8 or 9) and stopped working altogether at 36 weeks. My desk job wasn't super demanding and I was even able to bring in a cot for quick rests between meetings, but even with that, I was dog tired by 32 weeks and loved having the afternoon to relax at home.

I'm still working, too! I reduced my hours in late September which I think has helped. I also have a desk job and don't do much walking or standing at work. For me, work distracts me from my aches and pains and it seems to make the weeks go by faster. My hope is that I can work for 2 more weeks. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Hi. I struggled a lot with this decision as well. I also have a desk job and felt bad leaving it early. i worked right up until my ds was born! But this time... it is different. Twins are very different!

My ob basically told me he would put me on leave whenever I wanted so we agreed that 33 weeks would be a good time. This is my first week not working and it is absolutely fabulous. I can slowly get the things done that I need to get done. It wasn't that the work day was so hard... it was more that I didn't have time outside of work to get anything done because I was so exhausted from working. Now that I am off work, I let myself do one errand a day and then a few things around the house. I have so much more energy in the evenings now to spend with my husband and son.

So, if your situation allows for it, i would highly recommend starting your leave early and resting up these last weeks before the babies arrive. I have a feelnig that it will be the last rest I get for years!! :)

    Good luck!

I'm going to ask about it at my appointment next week. I feel bad about leaving early too but tough cookie. They can live without me. Our babies are more important than pushing papers.

You girls that are in your "30" weeks are impressive! I'm 28 weeks today and sitting at my desk with my legs open so I can lean forward and breath!

They should let me leave early just to save money on toilet paper... I'm in the bathroom every twenty minutes so I don't actually get much work done anyway. :)

I worked until 36 weeks. I was secretly wishing my OB would put me on bed rest but she never did. I remember being sooo tired, and
the walk to the bathroom would basically make me out of breath. I knew I was being induced at 37 weeks, so I
finally took off at 36 weeks and relaxed for that last week. I wanted to "save" as much time as possible for after the
    boys were born.

I'm still working as well. Part of my job can be done from the computer, even at home. Part of it involves meetings and stuff. Part of it is teaching and that's really tough for me now. Being on my feet for four hours in a row really doesn't work anymore for me at this point.

My doctor gave me a sick note today (not because it is necessary to quit, only to give me the option to do so), but I'm not sure about using it for two more weeks.

I have a desk job but I am up and down a lot. Mostly to go to the bathroom. But I seem to get Braxton Hicks a lot more at work. A desk job doesn't seem bad but I have to sit upright from 7:30 - 5:00 everyday. So some days I have BH off and on all day and finally lay down when I get home and wait an hour for them to go away. I wish I could work half days at this point just so I could go home and lay down more often.

Last week I asked at what point I should stop working and the doctor told me that I could work until I gave birth. :( I see a different doctor every time I go so I'm just going to keep asking until someone lets me leave work early.

Linz, I don't know how you worked until 36 weeks! I'm impressed. Up until this week people made comments about me not being that big for twins. But now I look full-term for one baby so I like to tell them my 40 weeks due date when they ask. Looking like I'm going to give birth any minute and telling people I'm not due until January 28 makes for a lot of horrified expressions.

Just wanted to add - I worked up until I was 32wks (part-time ER nurse) I was on my feet for 12hrs straight and while I was uncomfortable I really felt okay until 30wks then it started to get really hard but I didn't want to use up my vacation time or have everyone think I was a whiner so I just kept quiet. One night I felt awful - checked my BP and it was 200/110 and I spent the next several days in the hospital followed by complete bedrest with several other admissions.
Looking back I really wish I had cut back sooner! I am now a HUGE proponent of cutting back or all together stop working when things get difficult! And definitely mention this to your OB - my OB's partner chewed me out for not mentioning any of it when I was admitted later that night.

I wonder if it harms the babies to be up and running a lot. Do they notice me being tired, having back (and other) pains, crying over nothing...?
