    1. are my LO's too young to CIO?

    2. do i let them CIO for naptime and at night? as of right now, neither kid can fall asleep w/o being held. once they're held i put them down. however, sometimes they wake a few minutes later and need to be held until they sleep again.

    3. do the wake eacother up while CIO? i try and put them down when they're sleepy and NOTHING works accept my arms!!

Personally, I think yours are too young to CIO.

Mine have shared a crib and share a room and they rarely wake each other up when they are crying.

    1. It's up to you. Some people do CIO starting at 4 months old. Most people wait until 6 months. It's just whatever you feel comfortable with.

    2. I did nap time and bed time at the same time. I waited until later to do middle of the night. Middle of the night was the most difficult. I found that CIO for naps really made bedtime easier, they didn't really cry very much at bedtime.

    3. Sometimes they wake each other up and sometimes they don't. They'll sleep through each others cries for the most part.

I found it worked best to treat naptime, bedtime, and during the night as three different problems and used a different technique for each. For naptimes I watch carefully for sleep cues then nurse them and put them down. For bedtime, we have a routine then let them cry some. If they get too upset, rock them to sleep. At night, we let them cry a little them come in and pat them and then leave again.

We did CIO at 4 months BUT my kids never fell asleep in our arms after they were one month, so we didn't have much choice if we wanted them to sleep. I'd try swaddling/pacifiers first though.

    1. I did not do CIO with my kids until they were at least 6 months.

    2. I did just nighttime. There was never a need to do naps, from what I recall.

    3. After the first night, no.

    1. I never did a full on CIO... we have let them cry for maybe 5-10 min. but usually longer than that just made ours work up into worse of an issue. I followed a lot of what The Baby Whisperer talked about, and she had a "pick up put down" method - where you pick up just until they quiet, then you put back down immediately. you keep doing that to reassure them that you are with them... she suggests that the first night you do this you could be in there for a couple of hours... but it gets better. the other method she has is "sush-pat"... you just sush and pat them on their back, quite firmly... to break their concentration... anyway, it usually seemed that whenever I did try to let them cry... there was always somethig wrong, dirty diaper, lost pacifier, leg stuck in the crib... and as I look back on it (and now when I have night crying too), it seems for us it was usually a teething issue... and at their worst, they just wanted to be held a few minutes.

    2. again, I didn't do CIO... but I would recommend find a method you can do, and try to get them to be able to fall asleep on their own. as a pp said, we use pacifiers and swaddling... not sure if you can do that at this age... I did swaddle until 6 months, but not sure I'd start if you haven't been doing it... you might try a sleep sack if you don't do that... it gives them a fair amount of security feeling... with their legs in the closed skirt part.

    3. I will say when we've had our issues of crying in the night, its amazing that most of the time when one is full on crying the other stays asleep. I will say there are times when both wake, but I'm amazed that they do sleep through it.

I hope it gets better for you soon!

    1. I think they are too young still.
    2. I didn't need to do CIO for naps or falling asleep just for middle of the night wake ups. Sorry, no advice there!
    3. They didn't wake each other up and were in the same room.
