How do you keep socks on their feet when they don't want them on? I have seriously (okay, not so seriously) contemplated duct tape to keep Alice's socks on her feet. Same with shoes, but I finally found a pair of tie shoes that she can't get off. The girl is just like me!! (As I sit here with ice cold toes)

Wait until you get to underwear. That's fun to keep on too. Yesterday Piper managed to tug her underwear off while still wearing her pants, and Cricket wandered around with only one sock because "my toes need room mommy".

Jake won't keep him socks on to save his life. Honestly, I've just given up the fight. If he is ok with cold toes, then I guess I will be too!

I went to pick Hailey up from daycare the other day, and as soon as I walked outside (they were playing outside) I heard the teacher say "Hailey! Put those back on!" and she comes running towards me completely barefoot. Let's just say it's not super warm here!

hsah, the underwear thing I'm already getting into. At night, her clothing layers go: Diaper, tape, panties #1, onesie, pants, panties #2. And she still manages to get down to her bare butt in the middle of the night. I use the satin scotch tape, not duct tape because she can't grab the edges of the satin tape. So I don't have to use as much. Just three small pieces covering the tabs completely.

Sorry, no advice here. The girls hate socks and shoes too. They will keep their shoes outside, but once we hit the door, off they come. GL!!

Maybe some fun character slippers? I found Transformers ones on Clearance at Target last year.

Mine don't like to wear anything on their feet either, but on the cold mornings, I can get them to wear their slippers if I am wearing my slippers.

My twins are the same way. Maybe get a pair of slippers that they will wear.

I've given up the fight with Meara. When her toes get cold enough she does ask me to put her socks back on. She is her father's daughter though and must be barefoot as much as possible (my DH will wear birkies even in snow!)... including every time we get in the car

Mine won't keep them on either. I've pretty much given up. Maybe this winter I will try slippers. Who knows if that will work?? Probably not with my two...they are just like mommy. I hate socks and shoes. I run around in flip flops most of the time.

We have a hard time with this, too, but we don't really push it. We can't force them to wear socks, and any battle with them is ultimately a losing battle these days! Hopefully they will ask for socks when they get cold enough.

This is me!! My feet are clostrophobic and MUST be able to breathe or I go a little nuts. If my feet are cold, I'll offer for them to get socks or slippers if they want but if they'd rather be barefoot, that's fine by me. Their second winter is when I started letting them decide for themselves. The first winter I put socks and robeez on them.

I don't figure I have any chance at fighting this one. My kids won't even let us wear socks. If you take your shoes off and try to leave your socks on, one or both is tugging at your feet saying "oss, oss" until you take the socks off.

I only make them wear their socks with their shoes. It's not worth the battle. Neither like to wear clothes after like 8 at night. My only rule is they have to keep their panties

the first thing my kids do when they walk in the door is take off their socks and shoes...I'm the same way - I hate hot feet!

Mine are the same way. When my oldest was little (under 2) his nickname was 'one-sock' (AAWW man, I forgot to put that in the nickname post!) Because for some reason, somehow he always only had one sock on. Then DS2 was the same way. Never on purpose, but one sock would come off, and they wouldnt care, or notice. Now that they are all old enough to know and care, they prefer NO SOCKS! I dont know why. I guess I could say they get it from me. I dont like wearing shoes in the house, but I usually do have socks on. Their father cant stand to walk around with nothing on his feet; he doesnt like to feel the ground on his feet.

I guess its a kid thing.

As an aside, I thought this post was going to be about how hard it is to keep up with kids socks, and sorting through and matching them in the laundry. I REALLY hate socks!

You're going to laugh at how I keep my socks and the kids' socks together. I make sure that they have a lot of leg to the sock and tie them together when I take them off. Then they wash and dry tied together and you don't have to match them afterwards. But they can't be the ankle socks because then you're tying the dirty part together and ewwwwww. :) My husband doesn't do that with his socks and I no longer care if his socks match or not. He's a big boy. :rotflmbo:

Yeah, I think I'm just going to give up on socks for now. Hopefully she'll realize that she wants socks when her feet get too cold.

As for the matching and folding - we only have one type of sock. I have 20+ pairs of white athletic ankle socks all in the same size. I guess if they have to dress up I'm in trouble, but it works wonders for the laundry. Now if I could just get over matching or coordinating their clothes...

As with pp's, I have given up too. Emma won't wear them if her shoes are off, and I'm the same way, so I don't even fight it. Our floors are cold and will just get colder as winter comes so I do check her toes every now to make sure they aren't ice cold.

I really like this idea, but unfortunately most of my kids socks are ankle type socks.
The other issue is that I have boys and girls, so have different types of socks. If they were all the same, it would be sooo much easier. I get so frustrated with them sometimes, that Ill just throw away the ones that dont have matches, or the ones that I cant get clean, or have holes, etc, and Ill just buy everyone new socks. I honestly wish they made one-wear socks. Just throw them away when you take them off!! lol  Of course, they would have to be VERY cheap!

Oh my goodness!!! These girls are the worst about taking their socks off!!! ESP. in the car!! I have started putting tights on under their pants - they can't get those off in the car!! AND yesterday I noticed that they had taken their pants off as soon as we got home - but the tights AND diapers were still on!! YAY!!
