Footie PJs after PTing

So, my boys have PT'd much earlier than I had ever anticipated. I have at least 10 pairs of PJs that are the one piece footie pjs for winter. Unfortunately, now that they're potty trained, how does that work? With the 2 piece pjs, they just pull the pants down & go potty. With the one piece, they'll have to unzip, pull their arms out the sleeves, pull them down, go, & then pull everything back up, get the sleeves back in, etc etc. I find that hard to believe that my 2 year olds will be able to do that independently. Now, they aren't trained at NIGHT, so that isn't an issue, but they usually get their pjs on BEFORE bed & stay in them til after breakfast....meaning they're in them at least 3 hours or so per day.

Should I just get rid of all the footie pjs & buy more 2 piece pjs? I'd love an excuse to go shopping :). Luckily, this year, they keep socks on, so I'm less worried about their cold little toes. I got a bunch of footie pjs on clearance last year for this winter & next winter...not even thinking about the potty training stuff!!!

Are footie pjs a thing of the past once potty training is done?

My boys wear blanket sleepers. They unzip to the knee, pull down their jammies/underpants just enough for clearance, and pee standing. Works fine! It would be a pain with girls but if you are willing to let them pee standing, no worries.

First of all, :yahoo: for the potty training! That is awesome - I'm happy for you!!

I think I would probably just change my PJ routine so that they put them on right before bed and took them off bright and early in the morning. But, that's what we currently do anyway because of diaper changes. What did you do when you had to change diapers? If they stay in them, maybe they would just need some help getting them on and off. I kind of feel like they can understand that their PJ's are something they need help with, even though they are able to (and expected to) be more independent with other articles of clothing during the daytime. I don't know what I will do, though, because mine are not PT'ed and I don't expect that to happen anytime soon.

    Congrats again! :)

We didn't do any footie pajamas for the winter we pottytrained. By the following year, we were back in them. Jon gets too hot in them, although he is the one who likes them, so we rarely use them now--and yes, you can get them in really big sizes :)

We just switched to two piece pj's for the same reason you mentioned...they are on longer than just to sleep in. It was a pain stripping them in the morning to pee just to put them back on so I was changing their clothes first thing in the morning but none of us were fans of that. I went to Kohl's and Carter's and bought a few pairs of shirt/pant jammies. LOVE them!

I had to deal with this this morning :D Poor Meara flipped the pants part over her shoulder, so she could sit and pee. She didn't want to take her arms out because it was cold in the bathroom (we forgot to close the window last night). It was a pain, but she did it and didn't get her PJs wet.

Once we start PTing I don't use footed pajamas anymore at least not until they are older and can completely get up in the middle of the night and go on their own and then I still don't buy many.

I buy 2 piece pajamas now. :good:

    :yahoo: for PT!!

We haven't used the footie pj's since they were about 6 months old. They HATE them.

Mine recently started insisting on footie PJs again, after refusing to wear them for 6 months and after I had pretty much stopped buying them for exactly this reason. Fortunately, they are now old enough to get them off by themselves, and can usually go potty without peeing on their PJs. But I often have to help get them back on, because they tend to turn the sleeves inside-out while taking them off.

I don't find it to be that big a deal. Half the time I have to help them on the potty anyway, either because they need help wiping the poop or because they're wearing tights or just because they want me to help them. And also, we put on nighttime pull-ups at the same time that we put on PJs (about half an hour before bed) and don't get them dressed in the morning till after breakfast. And (despite being nearly 4 years old) they are still quite happy to pee in their pullups. So there aren't that many occasions when they are using the potty while wearing PJs.

I've only gone with 2 piece jammies the last 2 winters. One of mine was potty trained last winter, and I was optimistic that the other one was going to get there too.

I'm kind of in the same boat, the girls are starting to show interest in PT and all I bought were footed pajamas. <_< I can't really afford to spend another $100 or so on new ones. We've been just taking the arms out and pulling them down, but they're sitting there half naked and it must be chilly!

LIke Sharon, we took a year off of footy jammies. But the next year, they were able to put them on and off by themselves, although it still took forever. I think the Carter's thick fleece two-piece jammies are the absolute best. Mine still love footy jammies, but the hassle just isn't worth it!

Last year we didn't do footy jammies because of potty training. I just didn't think that was aggrevation that I needed or difficulty they needed while PT'ing. Now that they are PT'd we'll be going back to them again because they love their footy jammies.

We have a few that one of the twins likes to wear, but yes, it's so much more difficult. If you don't want to do them, I would sell them. Seems they go pretty good for NWT on ebay. They are so expensive during the winter season.
