What to do with an in-pants pooper!

About a month ago I took the plunge and put my second twin in undies (first one has been doing great for months). He's getting better daily at staying dry. But he is a hider-pooper nearly every time he goes. You know the story. . . he is suspiciously absent and just about the time I figure out what he's doing, it is done and I have a big mess. A month of poopy undies.

I've never had a kid do this before (although I know its not uncommon). Any tips on how to break this routine?

    Thanks!

No advice, but I have the same problem. My ds is a hider and his sister just tries to help and tell him how easy it is to poop in the potty.

Both my DD's took to pooping easily on the toilet, but my DS was a different story. I think what finally worked for him was making him help to clean out his underwear and pants. I made him empty his underwear and rinse it out and bring his stuff to the laundry or soaking bucket. I also left some books in the bathroom for him to look at while he tried. He took about 4 months longer than DD did to be fully day trained, but he got there.

Same here, except it's my daughter and not my son that's doing this. My son trained faster and more easily than my daughter :) I was just going to keep encouraging her, but maybe I'll try the previous suggestion related to rinsing out her own undies.

Mine thinks it's kind of "fun" to rinse out his undies--yuck!

my son did this for 3 MONTHS and one day it just clicked...my father thought I should put him back in pullups to "teach him a lesson" but I knew it wouldn't...so I just scraped sh!t out of his underwear for months

I so hated this part during toilet training. My twins were bad at it. I don't know how we broke it though.

Our pediatrician told us this - and he has a set of twins too. Put some poop-prizes up in plain site and tell them that they'll get a prize when they poop in the toilet. For him - it was little $1 toys on the fridge. For us, we lined up all my cabbage patch kids from my childhood on the fireplace mantel. My daughter looked at them everyday, we even took some down for her to hug, and we told her she would get one when she pooped in the toilet. After a couple days, she caught on and each time she went in the toilet, she would get a knew CPK.
