Hi I have g/g twins that will be 5 months old in less than a week, I was just wondering when is a good time to start them on baby food, I've tried rice cereal with then and they just don't seem interested, is this normal for their age, they were born at 32 weeks?. I know with my oldest we started her on pablum at like 2 months old and then fruits at I think around 5 or 6 months old I was just wondering if I should wait or try a little harder to get them eating more than just their bottles.

I tried the babies with cereal when they were almost 5 months and they weren't too interested in it. The doctor said to just try again in about 5-7 days & that when they were ready I would know. They are now eating cereal/baby food everyday, my DD started about 2 weeks ago (she had just turned 6 months) and my DS started about 3-4 days after that. Each baby is different, I would just keep trying and when they are ready they will eat it.

When my older kids were born the doctor recommended starting solids between 4 & 5 months. But now, most doctors recommend waiting until 6 months. I would just give it a bit of time & try again.

I started all of my kids around 4 months. None of the 5 cared for plain cereal, so I mixed it with fruits/veggies. That said, if they don't seem interested, it's fine to wait too.

My pediatrician gave us the okay to start solids at 4 months. But there is nothing wrong at all with waiting until you feel the little ones are ready. Good luck!

Ditto that. I only tried the twins with rice cereal a couple of times and then went straight to fruits/veggies. Now they do much better with oatmeal cereal mixed into their fruits/veggies to thicken them up a bit.

We started cereal at 5.5 months and fruits and veggies at 6 months. DS was ready then, DD wasn't ready until 7 months.

We started food at 5 months. I really wanted to wait until 6 months, but the boys were all of the sudden waking up at night for feedings. We started rice cereal and they were so happy and ate really well. But we did not add baby food until almost 6 months. I really wanted to go slowly and they are eating very well. Of course we have issues from time to time, but we work through them.

Really your children will tell you when they are ready. They really do tell you.
