Hi there just thought I'd introduce myself and become active on this forum....
My name is Kate. I'm from Australia, 31 and currently 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with what appears to be fraternal twins (2 separate sacs)?
DH and I knew twins might be a possibly as we had been undergoing IVF and had 2 embryos put back in on the last cycle (i begged to have 2 this time - the clinic I went to is pretty strict about not putting more than 2 in and not putting 2 in until you have had a few tries), still it was a bit of a shock to see 2 heartbeats on the u/s screen as I didn't feel overly sick (no throwing up) which is what I thought would happen if you had twins.
At the moment we are just waiting on bated breath to make the 12 week mark so we can relax and start telling friends about the pregnancy!
This is my first pregnancy so it kind of feels like we will have an instant family if everything goes right :)

    Kate :)

[IMG] to Twinstuff and CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy!!!
Two sacs could mean fraternal if they also have their own placenta but also identical twins with two sacs and sharing a placenta (like mine did)

Wishing you a very happy and healthy pregnancy[IMG]

Hi Kate, welcome to Twinstuff. :welcome: Congrats on your twins.

And the previous poster Charlie is correct, 2 sacs could still me identical twins. :)

So nice to meet you. I live in the States. We actually did fertility drugs to get the boys. This pregnancy came as a complete surprise! I thought I had the flu. Then we went for a dating u/s around 6wks and there were two heartbeats. We were shocked. I don't haev any risk factors for twins. Mine are also in different sacs. We don't know if they are fraternal or ID. It is to early to see the placenta if there is one or two or know the genders. I would have thought they were Frat, but my dr said they might be ID depending on when the egg split. :) Good luck to you Kate.

:welcome: and congratulations on your twins! Mine are also fraternal, two sacs, but we are waiting to find out the sexes so i suppose there is a remote possibility they are identical. Anyway good luck with everything, see you around the forum :)

I'm pretty new on here as well, and we did IVF also! We transfered two blasts so we already know our boys are fraternal :). This is also my first pregnancy so we were very happy to see two babies in there!

Hi everyone thanks for the warm welcome.
We had a "threatened miscarriage" last night, 2 heartbeats on ultrasound this morning - just have to keep our fingers crossed and wait and see....

Congrats and welcome Kate! I'm so sorry about the threatened miscarriage, I can't imagine how scary that must be. But it's awesome that you saw two heartbeats this morning! I know that first trimester seems to take forever to pass. Hugs to you!

I hope all is well, I had the same thing... twice. It is just a definition for any bleeding that they do not know why you have it!

I had it first at 8 weeks, and again at 11 weeks (come to find out that was a sub chorionic bleed). But all is well :) Now my boys are beating each other up when we look at them on ultrasounds lol.
