my LO's tried oatmeal today. they ate about a combined total of 3 tsps, lol. i also tried some pears which they seemed to like much better.
now my question...can i store their extra food or do i have to get rid of it.

If you don't think they are going to eat all of the jar, dish a small amt out into a bowl to feed them from, then put the rest in the fridge. It's good for 2-3 days before it starts going watery.

Never feed them from the jar and then save it for next time, the germs from the spoon will spread through the food quickly.

As for cereal, I personally wouldn't save it, I would just make a smaller amount next time until they are eating all of it.

It's my understanding that you're not supposed to store leftovers from the serving bowl due to possible bacteria growth from the LO's saliva. It's safer discarding the uneaten food.

Yep, if you fed them from the jar/bowl, don't save it.

I just spoon out what I know they will eat into a bowl & put the rest away, it's good in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. That way their saliva doesn't mix in with the food. I always throw out the cereal.
