do your kids read your mind?

I am the most rational, skeptical person you'll meet, except --- I swear Ivy can read my mind. To begin with, she's so much like me it's scary (you can't tell pictures of us at the same ages apart). But it's these little things that just freak me out.

The other day when she was sucking her thumb, I asked her, "What does your thumb taste like?" I was thinking about asking, "Does it taste like bread?" but didn't say anything. She got mad and said, "It NOT taste like bread!!!" (And that's something nobody's said to her before, so she definitely wasn't remembering a previous time.)

And then there was a time when we were looking through a toy catalog together and she pointed to something and said, "Present." It was something we'd already ordered. And the way she said "Present" wasn't a whiny asking-for-it plea, it was just matter of fact, like, Oh yeah, that's my present.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Whoooaaa. :faint: Anyone else have a mini-me who does this?

Spooky! No, that's never happened here. Very interesting!

Weird and freaky. Hmmmmm we do only use a small percentage of our brains.

She's going to be using the Force on you before you know it. ;)

That's what I was thinking.

That is a bit freaky, but very interesting.

I was thinking about this some more... and while I don't think my kids have Ivy's secret super-powers, I have often wondered if they can somehow sense my anxiety or something when I think about whether or not they will wake up from their naps. Jacob in particular (who is also my mini-me) wakes up almost every single time I even THINK about him possibly waking up. Probably just coincidence... but these sorts of things are so very fascinating!

Oh my gosh, that is totally freaky!!!

While nothing like this has ever happened, Lauren and I are quite connected. She thinks and acts just like me so she says and does stuff for me while I'm still thinking of it. It's kind of funny to see and definitely surprises me quite often.

Wow, it's interesting to hear that my kids aren't the only ones. Yeah, I have the same sort of thing happen quite frequently with both of mine, although just when they are interacting with me (not with Daddy or Grandma for example). I just chalk it up to them being around me all the time and similar personalities, but I have no idea really why or how it happens :)
