I just bought a bottle because I figure it's time I start with flu season approaching. Especially since I know they don't get all the nutrients they need in a day. At their 18 month well visit I asked the doctor the dosage for an 18 month old, since most of them are geared towards 2-3 year olds. She said give half a dose. And that it's usually 2 pills a day, so just give one. So now that I bought them I see the dose is one a day. I'm trying to cut them in half, but they're so freaken hard, I'm having trouble. And now I'm worrying maybe they're too hard for them to chew? Even though they eat pretty much anything. Maybe the gummi version would be better? And is half a dose really better than a full dose, even though they're closer to age 2 than age 1 (and they're more in line with the size of a 2 year old)?

So what do you give (what brand, type - gummi or chewable, and what dosage?

We started with organic gummy vitamins around 18 months. My girls are on the small side, so we did half a 2 year old dose. Cutting up a gummy bear is pretty easy. Also, I wasn't comfortable with some of the mass produced vitamins because they contained food dyes and extra sugar.

at my LO's 12 month check up my pedi said to either use the my first vitamins-mix it with water in a syringe and give, or the liquid version. Right now we do the liquid Poly-Vi-Sol

We give them flinstone gummy vitamins. The dosage for a 2-3 yr old is to take two, so we give them one each per day. They are a bit tough though so I use either a knife or scissors and cut them into quarters so they don't choke on them. They've done really well with them so far.

Right now I am finishing up Poly Vi Sol with iron for DD. I bought the Flintstones with iron for her. We tried it for a couple days, one day she took one vitamin fine and the next day she played with it. I might have to try the Gummy vitamins myself, she might take to them a little easier.

Cool, this is what I'm going to buy then!

I tried the poly visol once and it was just a mess. They never finish their water or whatever I put it in, so I had to just give it directly from the syringe to ensure they were getting the full dose. They hated it, I hated giving it to them, and it was such a pain having to run back and forth and wash the syringe under hot water before dipping it back in the container again. (I know, lazy!)

My girls are 13 months old and this is what we use. They love them. I cut them in half by using a pill cutter. They chew them just fine.
