Are they necessary for development? We have 2 excersaucers, and I was just wondering if I should get rid of one excersaucer and get a jumperoo instead? I'm not comfortable with the door-frame jumpers either. Thanks in advance ladies!

I do not think they are necessary for development, however, they are very convenient. We had one exersaucer and one jumperoo, and it was a good combo for my girls. I think it helped their leg strength, plus they had loads of fun jumping up and down on it...not to mention the fact that I was scared to death of the door hanging ones. I don't necessarily think you need to go out and get one, but if you are looking to return one of your exersaucer or exchange it, then a jumperoo is very nice to have.

I had 1 jumperoo and 1 exersaucer. I don't think either one is necessary for development but are good for times when you have to leave the room for a second and you want to keep them occupied. I don't think one is better than the other, if you already have 2 exersaucers I'd just stick with that!

Not necessary. Fun for them though!

I agree. We had one exersaucer and jumperoo and the kids enjoyed them both. But I think if we had two exersaucers, I wouldn't have bought a jumperoo.

Totally not necessary, but I liked being able to give them a change of scenery and to bounce around.

Not necessary, but fun. DD loves it. DS isn't that into it. He plays with the toys, but doesn't jump.

We have an exersaucer and a jumperoo. My one LO will go in either (and although she likes the exersaucer because it has more toys on it she tries to jump in it...LOL) and is eager to stand all the time when she is out. My other LO has no desire to stand or be pulled to a stand, so both are actually good for her because she will do "stand-ups" in both and she is in control of releasing herself from putting weight on her legs. She really prefers the jumperoo and launches herself over and over while laughing - which tickles me because she is using those legs - she is a bit chubbier. In hindsight, these toys have been very helpful for that reason. The other LO could have done without, of course I never could have foreseen that. I love having a place to "trap them" for a few seconds while I sit and drink my coffee with them...yawn. I think it is very trial and error.

Ditto all the other posters. We got an exersaucer at our baby shower ... and then we had 2 play mats and bouncy seats. Once I saw how much they loved the exersaucer, we went to get another one, but I saw the jumperoo, and decided to go with that instead. I'm glad I did ... they both liked both of them ... and they could each be in one and then switch to the other ... kept 'em occupied longer, and that is always good!

I agree with everyone else. Definitely not necessary, Luke & Lila never had one, but my older kids did and loved them. But I can't tell any difference in their development, it just adds variety to their day.

They are more than not nesecary, my boys physical therapist hates them, they think e=they impede development. We did use a doorway jumper though....they loved it, oh well

I love the jumperoos. We have to of them and my lo's love them. I had an excersaucer with my oldest son, but I thought it was boring. We also have a walker we use in the kitchen, and they love that too!! I think it just adds variety and babies love to jump!

We had an exersaucer and a jumperoo, and the babies would get bored in the jumperoo because it didn't have any toys like the exersaucer. I tried (in vain) to find a used jumperoo with toys, but couldn't fine one (and I couldn't afford a new one), so we settled on getting a second exersaucer. The babies are now both thrilled they get toys to play with, and often reach over to play with the other babies toys! I just rotate which exersaucer they go in (they are completely different.) If you don't have a jumperoo and they are happy with the exersaucers I wouldn't worry about getting one ;)
