Starting Baby Food--use separate Jars, spoons?

Something just came to mind as I started giving the girls rice cereal. (We will be starting baby food very soon as well) Do you use two separate jars of food and two separate spoons for each baby? I guess with separate jars, you are keeping better track of how much each baby ate, right? And I suppose the girls don't have cooties unless one is sick of course, but I found it gross to catch the saliva/food with the same spoon that I'm shoving in the other baby's mouth. Am I just being weird? Also, I would love to try to puree my own baby food. Is this impossible with twins? There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day, but I guess if there's time to do it for one baby, what's throwing a few more slices into the processor.

I use the same spoon unless I specifically know one baby is sick. I totally understand one can be getting sick and me not know yet, but they most likely will get it anyway. If I know one is sick (which, in almost 8 months, I've never had one sick baby... always two) I will use different spoons. As for jars, I don't feed the girls at the same time so I start one jar and if she eats it all, so be it, if not I'll start with that one on the next baby. I usually offer one fruit and one veggie per meal.

As for the making your own baby food, I have no suggestions. I merely use bought food and it works GREAT for us!

Same spoon, same jar - all the time.
Even if one baby is sick, by the time she starts showing that she is ill- she has already been spreading the germs around the house.
The kids are going to share everything, your kisses & hugs, cups, teethers, toys, memories etc. Its ok to share one container and one spoon. A bite for one, a bite for the other.

I also made a TON of my own baby food. I really liked the book SUPER BABY FOOD (if you google it, it will even let you read excerpts from the book based on their age). It tells you what foods they can eat at what ages and different methods to store them (such as the ice cube method) etc.
I usually spent a few hours 1 saturday morning a month and made big batches of everythign I was going to feed them.

Our babies share everything as far as eating (bowls, spoons, sippy cups). They haven't been sick since before they started solids. If one gets sick, I probably won't have them share during that time. I have made all of their food. For purees, I would make a large batch of a certain veggie once every week or two and freeze the veggies. It really doesn't take that much time. I did it after the babies went to bed. I never puree fruits. I have always mashed all fruits and it works great for us. Now I am done with purees. I am mashing everything or letting the babies feed themselves finger foods.

My two have always shared everything. Cups, spoons, toys, etc. The only thing I try to always keep separate is toothbrushes because for me that's just taking sharing a little too far. They are so close that I don't think we can avoid sharing colds & other viruses anyway, so we just let them share.

Same bowl, same spoon here. I also made most of the twins' baby food. I enjoyed it!

I am the oddball and did separate jars and spoons since I figured I wouldnt know when one is sick until its too late. But once they started getting mobile and all over each other and their mouthing their stuff, it was pointless. So then I went to one spoon and jar.

Same spoon and same bowl. I even scrape off the food from one babies face and feed it to the other baby. My MIL was feeding them last night and she says 'you use the same spoon?!?'. And I said 'how long do you think it would take to feed them using two spoons'. She didn't say anything after that.
I make all my own baby food. So much less expensive and I actually enjoy doing it for them. It really doesn't take much time.

Same jar, same spoon. Their high chairs are side by side and Bettye Katheryne will often even lean over and take food from Aurora's tray (even when she has plenty)...I guess it's better that way!

We are the same way here with scraping off one baby and giving to another. It takes a LOT longer with 2 spoons and 2 bowls, and i don't think DH realizes that fact around here :D

I make alot of my baby food, tho my girls don't really like my veggies except for my sweet potato, so i think i am going to buy my veggies except for the sweet potato and then make my own fruit.

I used the same spoon and jar. That was just much easier for me and they would get to the point where they wanted what the other one had, so it was better to use the same thing. I did not make baby food.
