growth spurt or ready for cereal

i've read pretty much everything on these boards about starting cereal. one of the 'cues' was when a baby started waking in the middle of the night to eat. one of our LO's woke up at 5ish (which is very early for him and we even did a dream feed last night). could this be a sign? he's been eating a ridiculous amount of BM and formula, too. he used to eat 5 oz and now he's been eating anywhere between 7-10 oz.

 

Yeah, if he's taking 7 - 10 oz at one feeding I would try cereal. Have you had your 4 month check up yet? Because at that appointment your pedi will talk with you about starting cereal. I tried at 4 months but neither of my girls was ready. It's not going to hurt anything if you try.

 

his 4 month appt is in 2 weeks. can i wait that long? i didnt want to start or try anything without hearing it from her first but should i just go, get the cereal and give it a go?

 

I agree that's it worth a try. I started mine on cereal at 4 months and realized they were not ready and re-started at 6 months. GL and have fun!

 

Personally, I would talk to your Ped about it at their 4 month appt.

 

I would also wait & talk to the pedi. I know our doctor recommended waiting until 6 months, but yours could give the okay sooner.

 

I would try it.
