Hello everyone, my DH just started a new job. He took a buyout back in December so he was off work for 8 months. We had a great schedule that worked for us. Now since he is back to work our schedule doesn't seem to work as well. He doesn't get home until 6:00 pm and I would like all of us to eat dinner together. This is our schedule now:

    7:30 am Twins up
8:30 am Eat breakfast (oatmeal and sippy cup of milk 6 oz)
    10:00 am Naptime
11:00 am Snack (juice and snack)
1:00 pm Lunch (1/2 gerber graduate meal and 1/2 jar fruit each. 4oz milk in sippy)
    1:30 or 2:00 Naptime
3:00 or 3:30 Snack (juice and yogurt)
5:00 pm Dinner (jar food and 4 oz milk in sippy)
8:00 pm Bedtime (8 oz milk in sippy)

So since my DH doesn't get home until 6:00 pm. now, I would like all of us to eat together...how should I shuffle things around, what are you're schedules like? Thanks for your help!

How old are your twins now? We've done dinner at 6:00 for the babies with a snack in the 3:30 range for months and months now. I'd bet they can hold off until 6 for dinner. If not, you could try pushing back the snack.

    Our schedule:

6:30 to 7:30 twins up, dressed, breakfast or snack
9:00 (on weekdays) breakfast at school
    11:30 lunch
    12:00 or 12:30 nap
    3:30 snack
    6:00 dinner
    7:00 or 7:30 bed

I don't get home from work until 6 each evening and that is hard because it leaves DH with the daycare pickup and dinner prep.

Our schedule goes something like this (slightly modified right now since they are trying to give up the morning nap)

    6:30- wake up
    7am- daycare drop off
    7:30- Breakfast
9:30- Nap if they decide to take a morning nap
    11:30- lunch
Noon- Naptime if they don't take a morning one
1:00- Nap if they do take a morning nap
3pm- Up from Nap and snacks
5:00- Daycare pickup and small snack
6:00- I get home from work and finish the dinner prep
    6:15- Dinner
    6:45- Bath
7:00- Bedtime (sometimes earlier if they are super tired we skip the bath)

And can I just say the Michigan economy and job situation sucks!! I can comiserate here. My DH also took a buyout and is now with a supplier, but working mid-nights. I have to keep telling myself at least he has a job!

They are 1 year and 4 days old. Do you give milk at dinner or before bed? Thanks for your help!

I give milk at dinner and not at bed. We stopped milk at bed when we dropped that last bottle (which was the bedtime bottle for us) at 12-13 months. They go to bed within an hour of finishing dinner, so it just seemed unnecessary for us. We also give milk with breakfast or lunch and water during the day and with snacks. They sometimes get juice.

This is very close to our schedule. We have a nanny, so we let the boys sleep until 7:30. My guys are on 2 naps and get 2 snacks, 1 after each nap, then my DH gets home at 5 and gives them a third snack so they can make it until dinner at 6:30-7. Their bedtime is 8pm.

Don't get me started! The whole state seems to be crumbing around our ears! Very glad both of your DH's could find a job in this wretched economy.

Can you just give a bigger snack at 3pm and try to hold until 6pm for dinner? My kids have been on that schedule forever now, and it works well for us.

Otherwise don't beat yourself up, if your kids only nap one hour at a time they'll probably want to switch to one nap soon anyway and you'll have to work on your schedule all over again.

This state does seem to be crumbling! I hope things start to look up soon for everyone!

Thanks for all of the advice!
