Have you tried a swing or a bouncy chair, perhaps the movement might help him go to sleep? Sorry you are going through this

*Hugs* I went through this with my LO's when they were around 3.5 months. There were a few weeks when the babies slept on me for most of the day and it took SO much effort to get them to sleep. I lost most of my baby weight plus some because I could not get off the couch to eat. The good news is this phase will pass. Both of my LO's are now amazing sleepers and there are actually days when I miss being able to cuddle them all day.

I think they are just more aware of their surroundings at 4 months and things start to become more interesting than sleeping.

I would try white noise. I hope he fell asleep by now!

This is reassuring to hear because my little girl will just not sleep without a ridiculous amount of soothing on my end. I try everything and it's always a struggle.

Every now and again one of my girls will do this. I end up getting ready for bed myself with the one that is awake, and then lay in our bed with her. I watch tv but block her eyesight from the screen and the flashing. Most of the time I think it is because they feel my anxiousness, so when I relax the awake one does too. I make sure to hold her hand, but not hold her. This makes it easier to move her to her crib. Sometimes I fall asleep and my husband has to wake me up (which is why I get ready for bed just in case!).

I say the white noise, too!! There's a cd out there called "For crying out loud" and its just annoying (to us) white noise like vacuum cleaners, a busy restaurant, rain falling, etc etc.. and it helps a LOT.

I got mine from a friend but here is where you can order it: http://www.colicshop.com/for-crying-out-loud-cd.shtml

Good luck, we went through a period like that, then one day we tried the CD, and just laid them down awake and they just go to sleep. Its a lifesaver.

    *hugs*

Oh, hugs to you!! When we came back from a trip recently, I had to hold Rami in my arms for every nap and night until he fell asleep. It took a little while but IT DOES GET BETTER! I would definitely recommend a sling. The first few nights I would stand in a dark room, singing, walking, shushing for way too long. After those first few days of misery, I just put him in the sling and did the dishes, cooked dinner, tidied up, even read a book while singing. Kept me sane. Once he fell into a deep sleep, I would 'unload' him directly into his crib. He had this issue once before around four months and lo and behold, a few days later he had his first tooth. Meanwhile, I'll think of you while carrying this one around :)
