Everything I have read says babies start smiling between 4 and 6 weeks! Why are my girls so grouchy? :) They are super alert and strong. But when I try to get them to smile, they give me the most ridiculous looks! Any advice to make my girls grin?

The outside picture are of me trying to make them smile.

I think mine started to smile around 8 weeks. At first it was hard to tell if it was really a smile or not. Don't worry, it's coming soon! Your girls are adorable!

Our boys were probably about 3 months before we got a small grin out of them. I attribute it to them being born premature. If your girls weren't full term then perhaps that is adding to a little delay. But I wouldn't worry about it, they'll be smiling in no time! :)

It will happen. Once u stop looking for it! If your girls were born early it may happen closer to their adjusted age. Mine didn't smile until 12 weeks.

Be patient is my advice. It will come. Mine smiled at 9 weeks. Also, if they were born early you have to take that into consideration. Soon, you'll get smiles just for being in the same room with them.

Mine gave me my first smile this week and they haven't stopped since :) I think they were later than normal because they were born a bit early. Your girls will smile, just get ready for it.

I think mine started to smile between 2 and 3 months. Now they are smiling and laughing all the time. Don't worry, they will get there. My boys do thing a little later than the books say the single babies would do them.

My boys didn't start to smile until last week, when they were 10 weeks old. There were some practice smiles before that, but nothing with eye contact. Now they smile all the time. I can't wait until they start to laugh.

    Don't worry, it will happen.

Mine didn't actually start to smile til 9 weeks either. And is actually when they started to babble a little as well. They didn't do it often thou.

When you do get those smiles they will melt your heart, they are the best ever..

7 weeks might be a little early. my boys didn't start smiling until around 8-9 weeks. just give it some time. even now at 2 months the smiles are random and you can't make them smile but they are doing it nonetheless. i would get worried if they haven't done it by 3 months.
