My DD has caught my heavy cold and she is full of mucous and phlegm (sorry TMI!). She doesnt have a temperature and she is eating normally. I suction her nose too but she´s not a fan of that (who would be!). Thing is, she wont drink whereas she would before. I´ve tried juice and water (they get milk for breakfast and dinner) but she wont have much. I´ve offered water on a spoon and it was slow but she had some. She just wants to play with the cup/flask or sippy. Her nappies aren´t dry but they arent as wet as they usually are. Im a little concerned as she needs to drink fluids to help eliminate the virus and this is day 3 of the liquid strike!

    Any advice/tips appreciated.

    TIA!

I would contact your pediatrician. When mine are ill, it seems like the only thing they will drink is pedialyte (electrolyte replacement fluids). You might want to try freezing her juice and water into popsicles and maybe she would be willing to suck on that and that might help her get more fluids in. Hope she feels better soon!

When they are sick the most important thing is fluids (per my pediatrician)...I give LOTS of popsicles, and I even do sprite or gingerale in their sippy. 1/2 water and 1/2 juice works well too.

Try any way to get them to drink, let them drink out of your cup, popsicles is a good one, fruit with lots of water (watermelon), spoon, and I have even used a medicine dropper to get fluid into mine (mine love the medicine dropper and will play with it for hours!).

    Good luck

I just had to add that the question of what a popsicle is made me smile! I love it when we have a language barrier amongst us English speakers!!! I lived in England during college, but didn't eat popsicles then... so I don't know the term for there either!

Try letting them drink with a straw.

that is a link to a "popcicle mold." you fill those little container w/juice (or part juice) and when they are frozen the kids use the handles to eat them!

(now that the site's been revamped i'm not sure how to post links correctly! i hope that worked).
