Im 34 weeks. For 3 weeks now I have been 75%effaced and 1cm dilated. Wed.I started having contractions and they were pretty constant were 2 hrs every 10-12 mins and i finally decided to go see my dr and they stopped! So I spotted a little, and lost some more mucous(tmi) and I went in yesterday(thursday) I was still contracting but he said they wernt regular enough or strong enough and I am still 75%effaced and 1cm dilated. He sent me home and I have an appointment Monday. The contractions are pretty constant...and they do hurt! But they are not unbearable. I can get away with tensing my body up, sighing and controlling my breathing and they arnt to bad. The pressure is also HORRIBLE. How would I know if i needed to go to l&d over the weeeknd??? Everyone keeps telling me "with my pregnancy i never had regular contractions" or "with my son I didnt have bad painful contrctions" I dont want these babies to end up popping out at home!!!!!! and my second question, if I am contracting this much and my cervix isnt changing at all, does that push me closer to a c section rather than vaginal delivery??
you're getting really close to the end. I have horrible BH around this time. If you are really concerned you can always make a trip to the L&D before your appointment on Monday. They will with give you and internal exam and check the babies. They always told me to never hesitate to go in no matter how trivial I thought the problem was. If your cervix isn't changing then I think you are having normal BH and they won't push you towards a c-section or vaginal unless your cervix is changing.
Are braxton hicks constant??? I guess i thought with bh that if you rested, or laid down, hydrated all that they were suppose to go away? I guess it doesnt matter wut kind of contractions they are technically lol i just worry bc i know EVERY pregnancy is different and this is my 1st. I mean they are like every 8-10mins for the most part
I'm not much help on an actual answer for this one. I had regular contractions from week 34 (every 6-8 minutes) until I had the babies at 37 weeks 3 days (irregular ones started about 27-28 weeks). Even the day I finally had the babies, I was having them every 2-4 minutes, but they weren't strong enough on their own to send me to L&D. The reason I was sent to L&D is that I finally dialated to 5 cm. My doctor said it's always better to be cautious and call/come in as needed. Hugs to you! I know the end is tiring and confusing - you are almost there!!!
Yeah, once I hit about 34 weeks, my OB and the hospital midwives strongly encouraged me to come in anytime I felt the slightest bit strange or uncomfortable -- no questions asked. I think its always better safe than sorry at this stage. I have not been to L&D but I would go if I was having constant contractions.
that can be constant and then all of a sudden stop if that makes sense. if you think you are having real contractions definitely go into triage.
This sounds like the last 3.5 weeks of my pregnancy. Every morning I would wake up and thing, please don't let this be the day! I was contracting every 3-7 minutes round the clock. They were only mildly painful. My cervix was 1cm 80% during those 3.5 weeks. I got checked twice a week and was checked the day before I gave birth and was still 1. 15 minutes before my c section, I was 5. The lack of current progress doesn't mean you won't progress! Good Luck! I hope you get your vaginal birth!
No, you don't want them to pop out at home, trust me, BTDT, it was not fun. I think anything you feel is "off" you need to go in. Especially since you are already dilating and 75% effaced. But I know, it is hard to "know" when to go in.
My doctor told me yesterday that if mine become more regular and more painful then to go in. They sent me home because I was not dilating and my contractions were erratic and I could not feel every single one. I am at 1 -2 cm and my cervix is quite soft. I could feel about half of them yesterday. I decided that when I start crying from the pain I will go in. they are stronger today but still are not coming regularily. Until then I am hoping to make it to Thursday. If you feel the need to go in then go in. Because you don't know if you have dilated more or not.
