My DS didn't poop for 6 days already and DD for 3
our Ped said that up to 10 days a re normal. but this is not a normal for me andI have no idea how to help them.
what would you do to help them. they are gassy and pass it a lot even with smell but still no poops.

I tried take the temperature ( rectal to help them but still nothing)
    I am already worried.

    Please help.

Are they breastfed or formula fed? Either way, as long as they aren't straining, their poop isn't rock hard, and don't seem to be in pain trying to go, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

ditto to what becky said. it's pretty normal unless they are in pain with weird poops.

My kids were very constipated for a while and what worked for us was giving a tiny amount of pedialyte in between feedings (like an ounce). We had a really long spell and for that we did the brown sugar water trick (details here). It stopped being a constant problem when we changed formulas and started giving them a daily dose of probiotics.

Sorry forget to write they are breastfeed.
I don't see that they are in pain but sometimes I see DS trying to poop and cannot and he is crying... but I don't know if it is because he cannto poop or because of gas.

My ped. said that if they are not crying, if their bellies aren't hard, and if it isn't bothering them then not to give them anything. If they are crying and it seems to hurt them to poop try putting some vaseline on their butt to help the poop pass and we could give them 1 tsp. dark karo syrup 2X a day until they passed a BM.

I think it's pretty normal then! Breast milk is so full of good stuff, that there is not much waste!

One of my boys needs daily prune juice, just an ounce or so, or else he's very uncomfortable. He'll only drink it if it's been warmed up. (He's 90% breastfed.)

Peaar juice worked like a dream for us but our were formula fed, had very hard stools and crying out in pain with it.

Pear juice also worked well for us, we have used glycerin suppositories with a water soluble lubricant(not vasoline) I have heard of the brown sugar to and also chamomille tea but have not tried either of these. If their bellies are big and hard and they are unconfortable try a suppository and see what happens if the stool is really soft then constipation is probably not the problem.

When our preemie twins came home from the NICU they both developed problems with infrequent stools. It wasn't constipation because when they did poop it wasn't hard. After a couple of days and no poop and them crying and writhing in pain we would give a small sliver of a suppository which always worked. This went on for a few weeks and I hated seeing my babies so uncomfortable, so to try and prevent them getting so uncomfortable I started adding a teaspoon of karo syrup to 2-3 bottles a day (out of 8 bottles), and that helped too. Now that they are 3.5 months old we haven't had any problems for 3+ weeks. Hopefully that phase has passed for good. Basically I wouldn't do anything unless they are uncomfortable, be they BF or bottle fed and like has already been pointed out BF babies just don't poop as often.

Thank you for all reply. Yesterday my DD had poop 3 times and stool was liquid consistence. DS still doesn't have poops I check his belly is't not hard,
but I still worried. will try pear juice at the begining.
