Yep - 4.5 years after having spontaneous twins, I am here again....pregnant by surprise with #3 (or 3&4....who knows!)

Now that I know I am pregnant, I am beginning to recognize symptoms...right now it's nausea (I had hyperemisis from 5w to delivery with the twins) and I had been throwing up for about 3 days....really sick today before taking the test.

Now I am beginning to notice a REALLY bad sour taste in my mouth....I don't recall having this with the twins...any idea? Gum seems to be working a bit. I have been so sick, so not really eating much at this point. I had some chinese fried rice for supper and I also was able to drink an Ensure drink (which I had never had in my 1st pregnancy, but I will try to drink as much as I can in this one...if I am having a hard time eating.)

I am calling a few labs in London On tomorrow to try to get in for a dating US because I am not 100% sure of my LMP...but I am gussing it was around the 24th of July, which would put me around 5 weeks, which is EXACTLY when my HG started last time. I threw up for the 1st time at 5 weeks! (and was so thrilled! LOL)

Haven't told the family yet or the kids - I want an US 1st.

Anyone here have spontaneous twins a 2nd time? I see someone else expecting twins again....
I know chances go up even more after the 1st set. I have twin sisters, but so far, no one else in my family has had twins....just me!

Congrats! I know someone who conceived 3 sets of spont. twins amongst a few other singletons. But I, personally, have dodged that bullet twice now. Of course, I have ID twins so they don't really play a factor in having a second set.

I had the bad taste from about week 7 to 16...it's getting much better. Popsicles are good. I also have got into the habit of brushing my teeth IMMEDIATELY after I eat. What else? minimum bread, avoid sweets, always drink milk with a meal (cause alone was the worst for the bad taste!). I can't chew gum (sticks to my fillings LOL) and since I avoid aspartame, mints (which were sweetened with sugar) didn't help. A friend gave me the preggie pop candies but although they were good while I had one, as soon as I was done the bad taste came back. Club soda with lemon or lime in the evening.

Did anyone ever read "The Bobbsey Twins" when they were a kid? It was like a Hardy Boys novel, with puzzle solving by 4 siblings, two sets of twins, meant for a slightly younger audience than the Hardy Boys.

Thanks for the tips re: bad taste in my mouth.

I have an US booked for Tuesday - so 6 days away and I am excited! I think we might bring the kids along with us so they can be in on the the start of this new adventure!
I am not getting my hopes up of seeing a whole lot - I had one 8 weeks with the twins and we saw right away that there were 2 in there. I could be around 6 -7 weeks for this one.
I am anxious to start telling people, so I am glad we got an US so soon!

    Congratulations!

With twins I had an ultrasound at 5 weeks and it was clear as day, two little beans, right next to each other. This time I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, 8 weeks, and a 3d at 12 weeks. We took the girls to the 3d one. They are really excited now and every morning ask me, first, how many more days until their birthday, and second how much longer until their baby brother is born.

Congratulations! I had spontaneous twins the first time but only 1 little one this time. I had an u/s at 5 weeks, blood test, and another u/s at 8 weeks just to be sure it was just one!

I remember you from your twin pregnancy! I had my twins two days before you had yours! I wouldn't worry too much about more twins. Mine were also spontaneous frats, and I've had a singleton since...plus another singleton pregnancy now. I'm also an identical twin, and we have frat twins in the family two generations back..so twins run in the family. Thus far my identical twin sister has had no twins... and three singleton pregnancies. So between us we have 7 pregnancies and only 1 set of twins. The statistical odds are highly in favor of your not having another set! Congratulations!

I was paranoid of twins again, I also had not had my period since having them! So we did an ultrasound soemtime in the 5th week (but it was too early) then we went back at 7weeks. I still didnt believe my doc so at 9 weeks we did a quick check in her office and at the 20 week there was just one LOL

I also had much more morning sickness with this one than the twins. The twins I was sick about 3 weeks, this one I was sick about 10! Every pregnancy is different I guess?

    Congrats!!!!

Hi Purple Nurple... I remember we caught each other during our twin pregnancies... Your in here too no, congrats :clapping: My twins were identical, my daughter after the twins is a singleton and I'm currently expecting baby number 4 and my 6 week ultrasound showed just one baby. So, I'm not sure what the chances are for having twins again, but I guess my first set was just really a gift. Good luck!

    Marta
