I thought I’d share a tip that has helped me this past week. For lunch I give them cut up chicken breast, veggie medley, whole wheat toast with cheese and peanut butter on top. Well you can guess all they want is the bread and peanut butter. I had the hardest time getting them to eat the veggies. I would hold a piece of bread or cheese out and when they would open their mouth I would quickly shovel in a spoonful of vegetables and meat. Lately that has gotten harder and harder.
So I put the meat and veggies in a bowl with a few spoonfuls of veggie puree and it worked! :stir:
It’s the same size and amount; don’t ask me why having it coated with puree helps. I just thought I’d share because it has helped me sleep better at night knowing they are getting the good stuff and without the battle!

yep and another tip.....my son has sensory issues and quit eating his veggies....the ot said to puree any veggie (or buy a baby food veggie jar) and mix with whatever starch they love.....like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, or rice and mine love it!

Thanks for the tip ! Someone mentioned BBQ sauce instead of ketchup and I tried that with their tuna and they took a few spoonfuls. Each spoonful counts. I put the veggies on their trays first then take my time with the starchy stuff that they love. Sweet potato mash is great.

What about veggie puree on sandwiches ? or with cream cheese.

any and ALL tips are appreciated! Thanks! Mine just sit there waiting until I put fruit on their tray!! Crazy girls will wait ten minutes, throw all their other food off the tray and giggle, wiggle, and cheer when i come over with the fruit. and i let them get away with it. uh oh!

[IMG] Yeah! on finding a battle-free way to give them their veggies! We have good days and then we have our bad here. Tricks are great!

This might be a cheat, but I've recently discovered these veggie nuggets that are big hits. They're in the refrigerated produce section with the veggie dogs. Rather than faux chicken, these are actually nuggets filled with spinach, broccoli or corn. I wish I had the box, but I've seen them in quite a few different stores.

veggie nugget?? gotta try that. mine have also developed an aversion to veggies - don't they remember they used to gobble this up as infants???? anyway, now i make veggie medley (i throw everything in there including onions and garlic) puree and add it to everything choose to eat. I say choose because it's getting harder and harder to get them to eat ANYTHING!

My two rarely use a straw, no particular reason why but they just dont'. So I gave them some V-8 juice (low sodium) and they got to use a straw... so that got a couple of doses of veggie in for the day. They do have some veg/fruit mix juices that are a good option the odd time.

I have one that eats veggies like they're going out of style, and one that won't touch them. I offer veggies, then I spoon feed a veggie puree after dinner to the non-veggie-eater. He'll still take them off a spoon for some reason! :unknw:

I'm so gonna look into buying veggie nuggets, though!

mine's the same way, one LOVES veggies and won't take them off a spoon, the other will only take it purreed......like baby food...
soooo I was mixing the baby food veggies with starches like mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, rice etc....but today I got the book Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld because it was half off at safeway and OMG!!!!!! The recipes are amazing.....you can put veggies in anything if you puree them! Tonight the kids had pumpkin/peanut butter cookies and ate every bite! I'm now cooking scrambled eggs with a cauliflower puree and quesadillas with a veggie puree mixed in the cheese! :) the book is awesome, I HIGHLY recommend it:)

I made the cauliflower in the mac & cheese and it was out of this world. My dh and I consumed it and there was none left for the girls.

You can try veggie burgers. My two loved them until recently :headbang: Just watch for sodium though. Otherwise I'd stay away from corn anyway as it's pretty much a filler that isn't digested well. V8 juice is an option if you do juice but keep in mind that it will never replace veggies (less nutrients, no fiber etc).

My two pretty much get their vitamins from fruit :pardon: We offer them veggies all the time but they barely touch them. Sweet potato fries used to be a hit, not anymore, or we hide broccoli in their mac'n cheese (we just put frozen broccoli in the same water we boil the pasta in, and it eventually disintegrates in tiny pieces that eventually stick to the cheese when it's melted, so it works).

I just found these too! The girls weren't keen on eating them when I prepared them the normal way and cut them up into little pieces but when I used the cut up bits in a pasta dish, they dove in!! Hurray!!

I put ketchup on sauteed zucchini and squash, and my non-veggie-eater had a feeding-frenzy. He ate so much, so fast I thought his stomach would rupture. Sadly, this did not work for peas. :pardon:
