I can barely stand I am so much pelvic pressure since last night. My lower back KILLS me too. I do get BH, but mostly at night, and last night they were actually a little painful, but after some water, and laying down, they got much better, and were gone in the morning. Anyone else with extreme pressure? I am going to be 24 weeks on thursday.

generally they say to call your OB if the pressure in your pelvic area doesn't let up, especially when accompanied with lower back pain. those could both be a sign of pre-term labor. i would definetly call your OB just to be sure.

i just wanted to edit to add that i started having the same sorts of problems around 17 weeks and was diagnosed with an "irritable uterus". it's basically BH only they just continue for the duration of the pregnancy and if untreated can lead to pre-term birth. if i were you i would definetly call your OB, it wouldn't hurt to get them checked out just to be on the safe side!

I agree, I'd call your OB. I had lower back pain as part of PTL.

I was afraid someone would say that! It seriously feels like both of them are fighting for a spot in my birth canal! Guess I will call.

I have the same problem but what I do is get a Boost and some water.

Or it sounds gross but I usually have to go Num. 2

But that is pretty much it.

Try to stay hydrated even though it is the hardest thing to do.

    good idea!
they will probably have you go to your local hospital/birthing center triage department to get monitored for contractions, cervix dialation and softening. i just want to prepare you for what you will most likely be in store for.

BH contractions typically start in the last trimester, not second although it's not impossible, they just shouldn't be that hard and painful.

you may also get a shot/injection to ease the uterine irritability and bed rest may become an option.

    good luck!!

Thanks. I have been having BH at night now for about a month. Last night they were pretty bad, and constant, I could acutally time them. I am just waiting for a call back. When I sit it's not as bad. It's when I get up and walk around that is the worst.

yep sounds exactly like what i went through. i had them from week 17 all the way until i delivered at 35 weeks. mine only got worse as time progressed and they eventually put me on contraction stopping medication, procardia, for the last few months.

i hope that is not the case with you but please make sure to tell them everything, especially how it gets worse when you stand and that they've been going on for a while.

    let us know what happens!

oh and a typical rule of thumb, if you have more than 4 contractions an hour call your doctor or midwife asap.
at least that's what my OB and Peri always told me.

    Slipper:

Good luck at your appointment! I had LOTS of pressure and lots of lower back pain after I did my 12 hour shifts. It turns out it was just the weight of the babies on my cervix. Just get that checked out as well.

I'll be keeping everything crossed for you!

    TM :)

I went to L&D, everthing checked out. Not dialating or effaced. Tighty closed. I am having some slight contractions, but they are not doing anything. Both boys were VERY active, so they werent all that concerned. I see my OB on thursday and I also have an U/S thursday morning. The nurse suggested I ask to be put on leave until they are born. Thanks girls for all the tips.

I have been having BH since 19 weeks, everyday. I went to hospital at 19 weeks for them because they were coming every 2minutes. Ive been on Procardia & home monitoring ever since. I still get them everyday. There not a concern for me since they have never caused cervical chances. As a precaution, i had steroid shots at 31 weeks. But like someone else said, 4 per hour is the threshold. If you get more then that, call your dr. But since then, I have gotten more then 4 per hour and when the dr was called, he said to drink 2 glasses of water and lay down, & then they stopped. But ever in doubt, call your dr.....good luck in the future and glad to hear all is well.

Hi! Glad you were checked out. It is amazing how quickly something can happen and everything changes. I hope the time off work will help you make it many, many more weeks! :)
I am due on Dec 21 and have been having a lot of BH and pressure like you mentioned (but not as severe). My ob checked me out last week as well and told me to SLOW DOWN!

    Good luck to you!!

i'm so glad everything turned out to be OK! YAY! now just try and take it easy.
it's funny you should mention that your twins are so active. during one of my weekly trips to L&D triage (yes i went that frequently) the nurse couldn't believe how active my boys were, she was just in utter amazement.

i took procardia twice a day until the end of my pregnancy. it didn't do much to help with the "irritable uterus" or my blood pressure (technically it is a medicine used to help treat high BP) but hereagain i had pre-eclampsia.

good luck and i hope you can take it easy and relax a bit more! i found pregnancy a perfect excuse to say "sorry honey, the doctor said..." LOL!

I see my OB tomorrow, so I am going to ask her to put me on leave. Not only is the pressure and pain in my back unbareable, but I have started with night time nausea again, and am running to the bathroom all hours of the night!

Let us know how your appointment goes! Also let me know about the pregnancy belt. :) I am also the same size as I was at delivery with my son and I can't imagine how I am giong to get through the many weeks ahead. Good luck with your appointment and I hope going on leave helps you!

  23. OH Honey...I too am 24 weeks today, and I COMMPLETLY know what you are talking about. At night seems to be the worst for me. When I get up for my several bathroom trips in the night, the pressure down there is so immense. I cant imaging how its going to be in another 5-10 weeks GEEZ. But it is hit or miss sometimes it is EXTREME ...I mean real bad like I have to take itty bitty baby steps..and then its fine. So odd. Also since we are both due the same day, do you feel your lo's alot? I mean I feel them moving around...but nothing like I did with my singleton...I mean with two in there I would think my belly would be all over the place.
