What are my chances?

Considering that I am already monitoring my Blood sugar, and on a diebetic diet due to the meds I am now taking, that my OB will let me skip the 26 week screening??? I hope she does, it may be wishful thinking on my part. I know I`ll fail it, and have to do the 3 hr test. I had GD with my son as well.

 

Talking from no experience with GD at all, but if you were to take it and fail, what would they have you do differently?

 

Absolutely nothing, which is why I really dont want to go through the torture of a blood test. My veins suck from years of being on prednisone, and it takes them at least 5 tries to even get a good vein, then we have to pray it well actually give enough blood to do the test. I see my OB next thursday, I guess I will just plead my case. I know they also check iron levels, but I am already taking supplements as I am anemic.

 

So the need from insulin injections wouldn't be determined from the GTT test? Then I would definately talk to your OB and see what they say. :hug: I hope they listen.

 

Nope, the need for insulin is dependent on your glucouse levels, and if you cant keep them controlled by diet alone. Right now I am doing fine with controlling them with Diet alone, and once my course of Prednisone is over, monday, it well be even EASIER to control them. I hope she listens too

 

I hope your OB agrees that it's okay to skip the screening.

My OB did my screening a few weeks early - and my glucose levels are on the high side. She said they weren't exremely high, but high enough that I now have to do the 3-hour GTT! Ugh, this is going to be torture. I'm praying I don't have GD.

 

I hope you dont either. The 3 hr test really bites the big one. Been there, done that, REALLY dont want to revisit it. Hopefully because your 1 hr test was somewhat borderline, you`ll be ok.
