Does anyone elses' LO hate the highchair? One of my boys will tolerate for most of his meal but as soon as he knows we're done -- forget it! He wants out of there and FAST. He screams and screams until I get him out of the blasted contraption. Is this just a phase???? I'd like for them to be able to sit elsewhere besides the living room but he's just not having it. GGGRRRRR!

I have no answers, but I do have the same problem with one of my girls. She's also starting to refuse purees and is only content if she can hold the spoon herself or stick her entire hand in the food bowl. Other than that, she wants only finger food. Isn't this too early for this behavior? I echo your GGGRRRRR!

DD especially hates going into the highchair. They do ok once I start shoveling in the food but getting them in there is a fight. DD has also started fighting me getting into her car seat as well. I don't know if it's just because they're mobile now and they don't want to sit still or what. It must be a phase around this age. Driving me nuts though. Oh - and diapering! I can't get them to lay still for nothing so I can change diapers. I am exhausted after a round of diaper changes!!! <_<

If it is a phase, I think it is going to be a very long one. Once my son is done eating, he will swipe every piece of food from his highchair tray and scream until he is taken out. We try to take him out as soon as he is done eating and let him go play. My daughter is a s-l-o-w eater and it takes a long time before she wants out of her chair.

It comes and goes. Sometimes they are clammering to get in, and sometimes they don't want to get in. We have introduced boosters at the table, and now they refuse to sit in high chairs (fine by me - I am OVER the highchair!)

As for the diapers - that doesn't go away. DS still fights having his diaper changed. We are starting to be able to woo him with Elmo diapers though. :)

Are you giving him finger foods to keep him busy? Some babies just hate confinement. They want to get down to business and quickly move on!

Echo the diaper changes here too! It's like trying to wrangle a wild animal! And this morning Izak pooped up his back so that was delightful! I need tethers and those bungee cords just to hold him down!! LOL!

We do incorporate finger foods into their meals and he's fine with those but as soon as the food stops coming .... WATCH OUT! Guess I'm just gonna have to take him out of the highchair after the feeding is over.( There goes that little bit of extra time for cleaning or whatever!!

I always gave mine some Cheerios or Puffs when they were finished eating to keep them busy while I had my dinner. It didn't always work, though, sometimes they just wanted down & RIGHT NOW!!
