I had my growth ultrasound today and everything looks great with the twins.Their fluid levels are good and they are estimated at 3lbs 7oz and 3lbs 6 ozs.So that part is good.

But when i had my cervical length check it showed i was starting to funnel,so they called over to my OB office and i was sent over there to get a FFN test done and they put me on bedrest until that comes back. She said the outer part of my cervix is still long but since i'm starting to have funneling i'll be seen every week now and monitored more closely.I just want them to stay baking a little while longer. She said their goal is to try and get me to at least 34-36 weeks.I just don't now how i'm gonna do the bedrest thing with a very active two year old,so i'm hoping that is short lived if the test comes back o.k.

Any extra T&P's you have i'll take that the FFN test comes back negative tomorrow and that they stay baking a few more weeks.

Anyone have any experience with this?

My cervix was funneling at my 28 week appointment. Basically, your cervix is opening from the inside, and you need to alleviate that pressure, which means being horizontal. I was also effacing, so I was put on bedrest, and stayed put until delivery at 37 weeks! After a week of strict bedrest, my cervix had quit funneling, and lengthened, so bedrest definitely works! Some change in your cervix is normal at this point, but I don't think they like to see funneling. Your amniotic sacs can slip down into that V, causing them to rupture more easily. I also had a very active 2 year old, at the time, and he did SO well with me being on bedrest! We read lots of books, watched way more TV than normal, and built lots of things out of Duplo blocks!

My cervix started to funnel at 24 weeks and I did have a positive fFN. They immediately put me on hospital bedrest and I was able to keep them in until 28 weeks 1 day. Make sure you are drinking lots of water, emptying your bladder often, and most importantly staying in bed (preferably on your left side!). Best of Luck to you!!

My cervix was shortened to 1.9cm at 28 weeks, 3 days and showed funnelling. I was dilated to 1cm and was having regular though painless contractions. The fFN test also came back positive. I was put on bedrest and the funnelling had disappeared by my next ultrasound. I am now almost 33 weeks pregnant and hoping to last a couple weeks longer! So I echo what others have said - bedrest does work! It's all about attitude - it sucks that you can't carry out your normal activities but just think of every day that they are in your belly as a blessing. I started crossing off each passing day in my calendar and it's really motivating to see the days/weeks go by. I have also used this time to catch up on lots of reading and I have a portable DVD player so I can watch movies and tv shows in bed. It also helps to get as much help and support as you can from friends and family. I am fortunate to have my in-laws and parents living close by and someone is also dropping by with food and other supplies or to do the dishes, laundry, etc. You need to concentrate on resting and gestating at this time and not on cleaning up!! Best of luck! :wavey:

I had funneling along with shortened cervix at 28wks and was 2cm and 70% effaced. I lasted 6 more wks on bedrest and had them at 34! I repeat everyone else bedrest is best right now! I only got up to pee, get something to eat, and shower! Is there any friends or family that could come over to occupy your 2yr old for awhile during the day?

I have had funneling since week 17 but cervix was a good length up until 24 weeks. Cervix shortened to .9 cm (very thin!!!) at 24 weeks. I was also having contractions. I have been in the hospital twice but have mostly been at home on strict bedrest. Also positive FFN at 27 weeks...I was given steroid shots at that time. I am also on procardia to decrease contractions and intravaginal progesterone inserts. Most importantly I am now 31 weeks and still pregnant!! My cervix is holding at .5 cm. None of my doctors thought I would make it this far. I am hoping to make it a few more weeks. Bedrest definitely works!! Good luck with everthing!!

No their is absolutely nobody that can help unfortunately. :( We have brought a gate in and toys in my bedroom and we are gonna watch dvds and do things like that....DH will just have to do baths laundry and things like that when he gets home from work.I will defiantly be taking it easy though because i really want to keep them baking as long as possible.

Well, I don't have funneling, because I don't really have much cervix left (4mm length, 1 cm dilated). I've just finished my third week of bed rest and am hoping things stay stable for a few more weeks. I would guess that you will have to do some form of bed rest with your cervix funneling. Can you afford for someone to come in and help you if you do stay on bed rest? The last thing you want is to have to do hospital bed rest, so try and stay in bed as much as you can.
