contraction help

Everyone explains their contractions differently and I still have no idea. Im almost positive ive had some semi painful contractions recently but now there's something else going on and Im not sure.

Im 31 weeks by the way with two boys and my Dr tells me to expect to have them within 3 weeks or so(i kno he cant plan it but thats wut he says) Right in the middle of my stomach maybe 4-5 inches above my belly button and 4-5 inches below I get these TIGHT places and its just like a rock!!! It doesn't hurt just uncomfortable. I just thought it was the babies pressing outward, but then people have been telling me that preterm contractions often feel like the baby is "balling up"

Adivce?? Experiences?? Im soooooooooooooooo nervous/anxious

 

:hug: I never knew what I was feeling either & it was sooo frustrating!!
Since I did not go into labor (had a scheduled c-section) I still am not too sure :umm:
I do remember that when I was walking/standing/cleaning towards the end my tummy would get very tight and hard - which were contractions. I just didn't know the difference between braxton hicks & 'regular' contractions.

Stay hydrated and rested as much as you can!

I had some contractions when I was in the hospital awaiting my c/s and they were painful. :unsure: You may be having braxton hicks contractions. They made my belly rock hard and were uncomfortable but not painful. I would definately call your doctor and see what he says. Mine told me to call if I was getting more then 4-6 in an hour. I would drink ALOT of water and lay down. :hug: Mine were usually caused by dehydration and doing too much.

 

I had wondered this myself. I'm 23 weeks along - and weeks ago I had started feeling a "stitch" like feeling under my bra - so the top of my belly. I wasn't sure if that was contractions. My friend said that that is just stretching. But sometimes I do feel a strange feeling at the bottom of my belly - almost like one of the babies bodies is pressing against my belly. I think that might be very minor contractions. Those I feel when I am dehydrated or even if I have a very full belly and need to pee.

 

I have been feeling the same thing. I kept describing it as a hard little ball of baby. I had an episode last month where it kept happening so I thought I should time how often. It was more than 4 an hour. I tried to drink water and rest and it didn't stop. I went to the hospital and they are BH contractions. They kept asking if it felt tight but to me it just felt hard. I didn't think it was contractions but it is. I still get them sometimes but not with any regularity. I have also been told I have an irriatable uterus. But they said that is normal due to the added stretching from the two babies.

 

I totally agree. Definitely call your Dr just to make sure everything is on the up and up. GL!! :hug:

 

I called and talked to my Drs nurse today and she said that it def sounds like typical BH contractions. Ive been having a lot of them for a while now but I always thought it was just the babies pressing up against me...lol who knew.

Dr says i should deliver within 3 weeks, and today was a rough day so im kinda thinkin he might be right. I have every symptom of my body gearing up for labor. We shall see!!

I know that's what a BH felt like when I was preggo. With my 1st DD, I had no idea until I was 39 weeks and getting and NST and the nurse practitioner said, "Oh, you're having a braxton hicks". I had no clue, I thought Isabel was just pushing against me like you said.
