Just a few questions for those that have had success with CIO.

My duo does pretty good at night time. We used to hold them before putt them down but they have done wonderfully with being put down and falling asleep after just a little fuss.. Nap times are usually similar with the exception that they will wake up 30min to an hour into the nap and they are visibly still tired and won't go back down. They take a solid 5-15 minutes to calm back down and fall asleep again.

There might be an under-lying condition, maybe teething or something like that but im not sure...

Do you think that they might benefit from CIO? How does it work for nap times? They usually only take 2 naps a day. What if they don't stop crying at what point do you scrap it. The only thing that i am worried about is the long afternoon nap if they cry for the full hour or how ever long, and won't go back to sleep what happens for the rest of the day, are they just terrors?

    Does CIO work for naps?

    Sorry for all the questions.

You could give CIO a try for a few days & see what happens. I would bet since they are accustomed to getting themselves to sleep that they wouldn't cry for a whole hour ( I could be wrong, but I bet it would be a shorter time). If it doesn't work out, you are just back to where you are now, nothing lost really. It could be teeth that's causing the problem or some other developmental stage that hopefully will pass quickly!

Oh, and I LOVE your avi picture! So cute!

I agree with Tina. They are definitely old enough, and you have nothing to lose if you try. As bad as my boys were at sleeping, I never had to use CIO for that purpose, so I'm not really sure. Maybe you could give an hour, and see what happens.

I would try it. They are most likely waking during a lighter sleep cycle, and they just need to get over the 'hump' and learn how to soothe themselves back to sleep when that happens. GL!

CIO works for naps. Some people say that you can CIO for an hour or however long you wanted the nap to be, but that didn't work for me. If I let them cry for an hour then after that hour was over and I went to get them then they were even more tired. What worked for me was to let them cry no longer than about 20 minutes, 30 minutes max, and if they were still crying then I got them up and tried again in another 30 minutes or so.

I had to do CIO for naps for mine. They were great night sleepers and terrible nappers. I could not let them cry an hour though, I did the same as Aimee. I would say within a week, they began to fall asleep within 5 minutes of being put down at a naptime.

So i think that i want to try it for the naps. Since they take a binki usually when they sleep do you go in occasionally during the 20-30min or did you just let them cry for the whole time before going in?? I can tell that this is going to be hard for me but i really think that they need to be able to soothe themselves, when they wake up in the middle of naps.

    Thank you!!!

I tried to let them CIO when they woke up early from a nap, but didn't really have success. I did this maybe 8-10 times. Twice DS went back to sleep after 20-30 min. of crying. But usually, they cried for 20-35 min. and never went back to sleep, so I got them up because they were so upset and didn't seem to be settling down. I did not go in the room, because if I did, they would just get more upset.

I stopped letting them CIO for mid-nap wake ups, but maybe I should try it again. I get really frustrated by the 30-45 min. wake up. It throws off the whole schedule because one will wake up after 30 min. and then the other wants to take a much longer nap.

I hope it works for you!
