So, it's been 5.5 weeks. DH is getting antsy. :)

My post partum app isn't until like 7.5 weeks (soonest they could get me in)...since nothing actually "happened" down there...and my incision is totally healed and doesn't hurt at all...is there any reason I can't give in?

How long did you wait? (oh, and lets be serious: i'm not exactly WANTING to...sheer exhaustion...but he's driving me bananas!)

I felt like you - nothing really "happened" - so what was with the wait? I asked the doctor and he said that my uterus, cervix, etc. need to go back to "normal" (even though I never even had a contraction, and only dilated to a 2). We started right back at 6 weeks and had no problems.

I think we waited 6 - 8 weeks. I know we waited until I was given the "clear" from my OB and I think that was 6 weeks PP.

Our babies are a day apart! DH and I actually couldn't wait any longer (we were cut off at 20weeks during pregnancy), so I would have to say 4 1/2 weeks.

My doc told me 7 weeks. Just a warning (in case no one else tells you), its gonna hurt. I think this is the the biggest secret out there. None of my momma friends told me how painful sex would be after birth. Even though I had a c-section too, it was weeks of "practice" before it started not to hurt so much.

Well since I wasn't really in the mood for it at all, I made him think it would cause serious damage if we did before my PP appt.

Maybe you could put a call into your OB and ask. Also, be very mindful that you may be very fertile. My OB stressed to me that she had seen women come in for their appts only to find out that were 1 or 2 weeks preggers

It was 7 wks for us, i literally had to keep DF at arms length for the final few wks lol Men hey! I had a c-section also and felt no discomfort at all, we stopped having sex at 30wks, so it was a good 3mths or so without.

We stopped having sex at about 20 weeks (found out Twin B had IUGR and DH thought he would make things worse). 6 weeks pp DH was being deployed for 80 days. We DTD once before he left. It really hurt. I was still nursing/pumping so I don't know if that makes a difference. I made sure we used protection since I got pg with the twins the month I went off the pill. Anyway, I was glad I didn't have to worry about it again for 80 days!

At my 4 week check my OB said absolutely, if you feel good go for it. If you want an excuse for DH, tell him doc says not yet...heh heh...LOL. It HURT!!!! But it was an accomplishment. It was uncomfortable for a handful of times after too. Can't wait till the drive returns...

I just did a Poll on this maybe a couple week ago or less. It wasn't specific to c-sections recovery and postpartum sex, but I thought maybe you would find it interesting.

Same as pp's it did hurt! I never thought about it hurting since I had a csection, but I was wrong!

OMG, it still hurts me to have sex and it's been 7 months. I am so not in the mood, ever. I'm just too tired/exhausted and it seems like my days never end, so by the time I get to bed I literally fall right asleep. Poor DH, but whatever, he knew this would happen if he got me pregnant. LOL

We waited a while...like 9 weeks and it hurt like hell. This might TMI, but if you are going to do "it" make sure you use a lot of lubrication because it will hurt. :)

P.S. will the drive ever return?

I found that normal lubrication like AstroGlide did nothing to help the discomfort. The only thing that worked for me was a product called Replens -- it's marketed toward menopausal women. The difference is that Replens gets mosisture into the tissues (which are drier than normal due to hormones and breastfeeding), where ordinary lubricants just sit on top.

So whenever you decide to DTD, I'd recommend picking up and using some Replens first. You actually want to apply it several hours or even a day before you plan to have intercourse.

About 6-8 wks here, mostly because I was much too exhausted to even think about it before then! :p

And ditto that it HURTS like a bugger, for a few times at least. And also ditto the lube, we just use KY and it helps immensely but it still hurts! :(

I didn't know that. I guess I was lucky, no pain here. I think we waited 6+ weeks.

Yikes! I think somethings wrong w/ me! We waited I think 9 days... He had been gone for a deployment for 2months prior to our boys 11 week early entrance into the world. It didn't hurt for me at all and haven't had any issues on the times following

We waited 6 weeks (we had been told to stop at 27 weeks pregnant) and it was before my follow up appt with the OB. There was no pain like I expected and no problems even though I hadn't been given the green light yet.

No pain here, either - I thought the pain for the first time after delivery was only associated with vaginal births - that's news to me.

We waited 5 weeks, and it was really painful for the first few times. BUT, we were on "pelvic rest" from 10 weeks...so I felt like I was a born again virgin!!!! ;)
