That is my question. I do not want to drive minivan and looking for an SUV. Is it convenient with twins?

I had a Honda CRV (that I subsequently traded in for a minivan) before my girls came and I loved it! The back "trunk" area was huge and there was plenty of room for 2 fullsized carseats. Actually, DH has it now-we traded in his car. We obviously can't lug the whole family in it but I'm still nostalgic when I have the opportunity to drive it <<sigh>>.

I have a Chevy Tahoe and I absolutely LOVE it!! I have the removable 3rd row seats which are convenient when we have extra people traveling with us. There is plenty of room in the back for all of our stuff!

Until recently I was driving a Honda Accord. We had no problem with fitting the two car seats in the back seat but the trunk space was tight once you added the stroller, grocery bags, etc. I'm now driving a Honda Pilot and love the added space particularly in the cargo area. The Pilot has a third row which is an added plus when the Grandparents visit. Space is a bit tight in the third row but not bad for drives around town - no long distance road trips for me in the back! Good luck with your search.

We just bought a new car in May 09 with anticipation of our 3rd baby arriving Thanksgiving in addition to the twins and the loads of company we get. We considered the Honda Pilot and were very happy with it but the sales people were not willing ot work with us. We ended up buying a FORD FLEX and could not be happier! It is VERY roomy. It also has a 3rd seat which folds down to allow a HUGE trunk if you need it.
Even with the 3rd seat up, we still have enough room to get the stroller/luggage etc in there. It has a lot of nice features and has gotten excellent reviews.

I drive a Toyota Rav 4 and love the cargo area. There is an option (I think) for third row seating but there is no way a stroller would fit back there. Since my car doesn't have them, there is a huge compartment where the seats would store and I fit a TON of stuff in there. I wanted something a little higher than a car for getting the kids into/out of their seats and I think it's the perfect size for us. We are talking about expanding the family but that means a mini van would be in our future too.

I have a Trailblazer and LOVE it...however, for me, there is not enough space. For instance, we can't go grocery shopping and bring the stroller. We use my husbands truck for when we need the stroller, but need to go shopping etc...

I really really really want a suburban! really really bad. It would be great to have room for our mother's and enough space to travel with all of our "stuff"!

Krystyn: Is the Tahoe much bigger then the Trailblazer, maybe we'll look into that?

Good luck with your search, let us know how you do!

I am also someone who never wants to drive a mini-van.

I have a Ford Explorer and really really like it. It's so comfy and roomy. Of course I've never owned any other SUVs so I have nothing to compare it to...except my friend has a Durango and I like my Explorer a whole lot better than that.

I had to trade in my beloved VW Beetle when I found out we were expecting twins. I'll get another Beetle, one day.

We had a GMC Jimmy, no third row seating so plenty of storage in the backend!

When we found out our next addition was actually 2 additions, we upgraded to a GMC Yukon XL. LOVE MY YUKON! I hate little cars, prefer more of a "truck" feel going down the road. The yukon drives like a car (except you do have to turn a little wide or you'll nudge the curb ;) ), seats 7 but still has the big space in the back for "stuff". The third row isn't right up against the back.

We go camping a lot, and make a trip to canada (2000 miles one way) every summer, so we needed the space in the back for travelling, as well as the towing capacity of a truck. A minivan just wasn't going to work for either of those things.

We're looking at getting a regular gmc Yukon or Envoy or something similar in a few years. Right now if we all go as a family somewhere we can only fit in the XL, because the Jimmy became our second vehicle. We'll trade the Jimmy in once the Yukon is paid off.

The choice isn't just minivan or SUV -- there are other options. :) We have a Subaru station wagon and it works just fine. We'll probably wind up with either a minivan or a crossover SUV when the Subaru dies, because it would be nice to have a leeetle more storage space -- but I hope that won't be for several more years. The carseats fit fine and I much prefer to drive a regular car rather than something big and bulky.

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe, and really like it. You'll never fit more than 2 adults/2 babies in it, but if that's all you need, then it works great!

Right now we have a 4 Runner but I am thinking about a new car (ours is a 99) and I am planning to look at the Jetta sportcoup(may be sportwagon) TDI.

In my opinion a mom of two can drive just about any kind of car. The only off limits would be a tiny sports car with little or no back seat. A two door car makes it mighty hard to have kids in rear facing car seats, but not impossible, if you can't afford to change cars. And a small trunk may mean you need to add a roof top luggage rack for a double stroller.

I've vowed never to drive a minivan! I used to have a Honda Accord, but now I drive a Honda Pilot. I love it! Like PP said, the 3rd row is a little tight, but works for our dog to sit, little kids, or even adults for a short trip.

We have VW Passat wagon and do love it, but wish we had bought something that would allow for another adult or child to sit in the back seat.

We have both a Suburban and a mini-van and love them both. I'm short so getting the infant car seats in and out of the suburban was a pain in the neck but I LOVE all the storage. We didn't buy the mini-van till we had our 4th child... Good luck!

I LOVE my Nissan Murano, however we are upgrading soon to something bigger. Two babies fit fine, along with a double stroller, but there's not much room for anything else.

Until recently I drove an 4 door Chevy Blazer and loved it. Plenty of room. We traded that in and got a new Saturn Aura (which DH drives now) and I drive his Chevy Avalanche.

We do have a minivan (DH drives it), but I drive a Ford Escape - small SUV, comes in a hybrid. It fits both rear facing carseats no problem and still has storage space in the back, plus a roof rack. I really love it. When it konks, we are looking probably at crossovers, although it depends somewhat on whether we have more kids. I do think that most cars would work, although we could not fit two carseats in the back of DH's previous car (a Mustang). We tried valiantly, but it was not even remotely possible.

I drive a minivan. And I LOVE it. :) I used to drive a chevy impala, and you could fit 2 adults in front, the 2 babies in back and maybe a skinny skinny adult in the back.

I just got an 09 Mazda CX-9. I LOVE it!! I had a pathfinder before this and the two don't even compare. It has a third row that folds down very easily for plenty of storage. It drives like a car and the base model comes with everything you need, and then some. My favorite feature is that the middle row slides back and forth and which gives you plenty of room up front even with the infant seats or the other seats facing backwards.

Thought I would be a different voice. I drive a 4-door Honda Civic. We don't travel with our double stroller much anymore as the girls are good walkers, but with a little struggle our Valco Side-by-side did fit in the trunk. Our Kolcraft tandem stroller fit in easily and was the main stroller I used with the car.

Oh, and I now look after my rear-facing nephew 5 days a week and have 3 high-rated car seats (2 Radians and 1 Britax) across the back seat. We did have a problem with the car seats when rear facing in that we had to get the smaller Roundabouts instead of the Marathons as the kids were behind the driver and passenger which didn't leave enough leg room with a larger seat. At that time we went SUV shopping to find a new vehicle to fit the larger car seats but since we are tall, the seats didn't really fit much better in the SUVs we looked at (Toyota, Honda). Then I had a lightbulb moment - why spend thousands of dollars to buy a vehicle to fit our car seats when I could buy car seats to fit our vehicle!

I have JEEP truck. Works well for us now. I REFUSE to get a minivan. I hope I never have too. I know they offer more space and easier to get in and stuff. I just can't see myelf in one and I hate they way they look. I went from a Mazda3 hatch to a Jeep truck... that was hard enough. I am not a fan pf gas guzzling cars. :(

I have a Santa Fe with a 3rd row and I've been able to fit 3 adults, 2 toddlers and a 4 year old. I love my car.

We just bought a Kia Rondo with a third row of seats as an option. Although it is called a "minivan," it is actually a large station wagon. My husband is 6'4" and loves it!

    Thanks everyone for your responses!
As I see there is LIFE without driving minivan:) I used to drive sedans and I love them, my husband used to have an SUV car. But right now he bought a new car of his dream for himself, which is a very spacy big sedan. It will fit two adults at the back seat easily, even behind my DH, who is a big boy. I feel like I need to buy an SUV for myself as my old car needs to be replaced. Thanks for your inputs, I will take a look at all those models!
