My weekend is study study study for trials on monday!

Yes but with after/before school care allows her to work, thats the mindcept we both had so it balances it by allowing her to work and still being able to look after her family.

 

We're going to a concert at the opera house tonight (leaving in a few minutes). We're going to Melbourne next weekend (only for the weekend).

True, but if that is the logic you are using then A would be just as good an answer since it would also allow somebody to work (more). The time saved by using internet banking can just as easily be applied to increasing work hours than it would be to increasing family time.

I think the problem with this question is that while they are presenting it as A = F + W it is really A = F + W + O, where A = total hours awake, F = family hours, W = work hours and O = other hours. Banking goes in the O category.

She is already working so increasing the number of work hours (by outsourcing the work of taking care of the child) increases the number of working hours at the expense of fewer family hours. With internet banking you are reducing the time it takes you to do something and that saved time can now go into either working hours or family hours (depending on preference).

In other words, it is a badly worded question and the real answer is A if you assume that banking does not fall under the work or family categories, otherwise the answer would have to be none of the above. You can see why as:

If banking is an "other":

A = F + W + O : waking time equals family time plus work time plus other time.
A = F + 0.5O + W + 0.5O : if we assume internet banking reduces the amount of "other" time by half, you now have an extra 0.5O in the family category.
A = Family(F + 0.5O) + W + 0.5O : if we make all the extra 0.5O time, family time, we now have more family time than we did before (F = F + 0.5O compared to the previous F = F), while keeping W the same. Only O time was reduced - thereby improving life/work balance.

On the other hand if banking is part of family time, then (assuming banking is 10% of F and we halve the time it takes):

F = W
0.95F = 1.05W : since F and W are equal 1W + 0.5F = 1.05W, this obviously shows a reduction in work/life balance.

You can do exactly the same thing with the before/after school thing than you can do with internet banking.

This weekend we are having a garage sale. Its at my parents where all the not wanted stuff went in our move. After, everything will go to Goodwill/thrift. Its a good time, with all the rain, my parents basement got some water and we can't see exactly where because its behind boxes! I'm still missing 2 books that I think got put in a 'go' box so I'll be looking for those.

How is everybody doing? How is everyone's weekend so far??

Had a very busy two weeks when Shelley and my nephew stayed here, I really enjoyed their company but liked the sleepless nights alot less(I am a light sleeper and wake up fast)
The little guy also had some digestive cramps (darmkrampjes) and ofcourse that left everybody exhausted. They left yesterday so I was able to get a good night sleep.

I worked yesterday and had a nice dinner with a good friend of mine. I did get home quite late and hopefully I will be able to have a bit of a relaxing day today. I am planning to finally sort trough all my prague pictures and all the other pictures still on my laptop so hopefully I will be able to post some soon.

Next week I will have my last day of work, I will be able to focus more on school after that and I will start my internship in november.
It is a bit of a bittersweet goodbye though. I will definetley miss all of my coworkers and definetley my payment, actually a bit scared how I am going to manage without the paycheck for some months. I did save some money and so I will be fine but I do hate having to give up some financial independence.
I am definetley not going to miss the customers and all the other bad stuff I had to deal with every weekend. And I like that I finally have some more free time to see some of my friends more often.
All in all a bit of a bittersweet goodbye.

So that was an update on me, how is everyone else doing? :wavey:

 

I am good, tried but good have been studying something hectic, exams start tomorrow at 9am for english paper one, tuesday 9am english paper two, 1.20pm Hospitality. have wednesday and thursday off to study as have no exams, CAFS and friday at 9am, then sac on monday at 9am and then Business on wednesday and then I get a 4 day weekend! I cant wait ill sleep a whole day

Chloe and I are in the middle of deciding what to do for our birthday, we cant even decide on what cake to get! so mums decided to get two different ones so we both are happy! Any ideas what to do? I was talking to a friend about it and she suggested have a party but get it to start late that way you dont have to worry so much. A party would be fun but my neighhour hates us and would complain!

14 actual days of school left... thats not including the next two weeks as all up I'll be there 12hrs


Booked my hair for my formal the other day, makeups booked, cars organised, dress I have one I dont like anymore, may wear the one I wear to my cousins wedding and dress it up.
