Finally - I have babies that STTN!! WOO HOO! They're almost 9 months old but who's counting the year or so of lost sleep. ;) I'm beyond excited. I broke down and did CIO. I really didn't want to but they were suffering so badly for the lack of sleep. Just crabby and whiny all the time and their sleep habits were getting worse and worse. I don't have a problem getting them TO sleep - it was getting them to stay asleep. The first night Walker woke up and cried 18 minutes off and on before giving up. Jocelyn didn't wake from his cries. A couple hours later she woke up and screamed for 50 minutes (she's our loud crier). She was off and on but mostly screaming and being angry. After 10 minutes of her crying Walker woke up from that and he's so sensitive to her that he started crying again. It took a whole hour for him to go back to sleep. Broke my heart. I laid in bed trying to give them mental support. I kept saying I love you but you need to go to sleep. Just curl up with your blankey and lovey and go to sleep. It somehow seemed to help me anyway. ;) They fussed a bit after that and cried a little around 5am but woke up happy at 6:15. The 2nd night Walker fussed about 15 minutes and that was it. Last night they fussed here and there but no crying and they slept 11 hours! That's a record for us. So far they are happier during the day, their naps are getting better, they're starting to LOVE sleep, and I'm getting sleep!! All in all I'm a happy Momma and they're happy babies. In some ways I wish I would have done it earlier but I wasn't ready emotionally for CIO. Thankfully it's done and I know we're all better for it. Anyway - just had to share my happy success! :)

i'm sooooo happy for you!![IMG] i know that the sleeping thing has been a struggle for you from day 1. i remember your earlier posts when you were sleeping with them on the couch, you've come a long way!!

i also do the mental support thing and i swear, sometimes it works! as soon as i start my mantra they calm down and get some zzzzzs.

    :woohoo: and

CIO is so hard but it's sooooo worth it in the end!!

I did it with my oldest ds at 10 months, and my oldest dd at 8 and then again at 10 months when she got sick after the first time and ended up in our bed again.

Both my kids sleep like rocks now, 10-12 hrs a night ever since then!

Awesome! i'm glad it's working!! It's so hard having twinkies who don't sleep. Caleb still isn't really STTN despite CIO, but I think he's just a terribly light sleeper. It's good to know though that there is hope yet! I'm really really happy for you! The whole world looks so much better when you get sleep :)

Thanks so much! Still going well. I'm finding if I put them to bed too late they do wake up more often and wake up earlier. The darn book was right again! ;-)

OH those days! Thankfully they seem a million years away now and mostly a blur but I remember wondering if I'd ever sleep in my bed again and definitely wondered if they'd ever STTN! LOL Thank heavens I'm past that!

:yahoo: I'm so happy for you Lisa!! It has been a long time coming but it makes you appreciate it all the more once you finally get them lasting the WHOLE night and putting THEMSELVES back to sleep, what a result! You should be proud of them and you

yay! isn't it the best feeling in the world? not just getting more sleep, but knowing you're raising healthy, independent kids. we just went thru CIO with my guys and i know hard it was, but totally worth it now that i'm on the other side.
