Hi everyone, I had an appointment with my midwife, and she measured my stomach for the first time, it was 35 and I am in my 26th week, she said I was measuring big. Later when I got home I remember reading somewhere that a sudden expansion in your stomach can be a sign of TTTS because one of the babies can have too much fluid in their sac. My next scan is on Monday which is not far away, I was just wondering if anyone else was measuring around the same at this point?

I was measuring the same at 26 weeks, however I am expecting fraternal twins so there is no risk of TTTS. I've been measuring about 10 weeks ahead for a while (I'm now 32 weeks), but all my scans have shown fluid levels to be normal for the babies.

Same here. I have been measuring 9 weeks ahead since 20 weeks. My boys are fraternal so there is no risk of TTTS. All of my ultrasounds showed normal levels of fluid. You just maybe cooking big babies in there. Hope that helps.

I measured 44 weeks last week, when I was actually 35 weeks. I do have mono-di identical boys, so TTTS was a risk, but I have shown no signs.

Are your babies sharing a placenta? If not, you don't have to worry about TTTS. My docs never measured me, sometimes I wish they had b/c I am curious what my belly measured at. I had one baby with too much fluid and one with not enough (mine did have TTTS).

Yes they are sharing a placenta, I have been going for regular screens every 2 weeks, and so far so good, baby A is a bit smaller than baby B like 2oz or so, but they don't seem worried about it. I just have felt like my stomach suddenly exploded in the last 10 days since being there, it's been actually painful at times the streching- :shok: So that is why I was worried about it, or if it could be a sign of TTTS. My scan is on Tuesday so I am just trying to stay positive and not, worry about it, but it's hard. I think I stress over this pregnancy way more than my son, just because they are two and seem to be Mono\Di according to our doctors.

Wow good to hear that you have not had any signs, how are you doing with a 44 week stomach is it painful?

It can be a sign, but you will always measure larger with twins. You need to watch out for a rapid gain in weight, which could indicate increased fluids. Call your doc and tell them about your concerns. Maybe they can squeeze you in to put your mind at ease.

  10. I am also having mono/di identical boys and am measuring about 14 weeks ahead (I'm 28 and measuring 42.) I was at risk for TTTS in the beginning of my pregnancy. At 13 weeks my fluid levels were: baby A at 5: Baby B at 18. Since then there has been a steady increase in baby A's area and now they are at 15 and 18-doctors are still watching for TTTS but for the most part I'm in the clear.

Just got back from the UL and as it turns out the sudden growth of my stomach probably had to do with their growth. They are measuring exactly the same now, and they are in the 97th % range, I'm not sure what it is in pounds but they are 1170g which roughly I think is about 2 lbs 12oz or so. They were still breech but moving around during the entire ultra sound, so the position may still change. I'm sure I saw a little penis so I'm pretty sure we have 2 boys coming, my husband wants to be surprised so I couldn't ask for sure. :good:
