I hold mine upright, facing me. If I need to carry both, I put my rt arm across both backs and lt arm under both bottoms. So far this works for us!

I never did when they were little [IMG] I was always afraid I might fumble and drop them [then again I am a very clumbsy person [IMG] ]. I think I first 'scooped' them up when I needed to get them out of a situation [like playing with something that they could hurt themselves with or something that might fall on them] when they were 9 months old?

PP has a good example of holding them together [IMG]

I never held mine at the same time either (at least not until around 9 months, when they could sort of hold on). If I had to take them somewhere, they were in their infant carriers. And for just moving around the house, I always took them one at a time. Just too awkward and scary for me to carry them both.

For burping or general soothing, I would also do one at a time, and have the other in a bouncy seat or carseat (rocking/bouncing with my foot if it seemed to help).

The daycare teachers would carry one baby in each arm, holding them around their middles, facing out. I'm not quite sure how they picked them up that way, though. I don't think you could do that when they're tiny and floppy. It gets much easier when they're at least old enough to hold up their own heads.

This is exactly what I did and is explained very well. I would carry them up and down the stairs this way. I have always carried them together, just for short distances.

P.S. Time to update that ticker! ;)

I did this from about 2.5 mos on. Before that, when they were super floppy, I stacked them. I know it sounds crazy, but Kayci was born 2lbs lighter and the gap just grew from there. I'd cradle Erick in the crook of my arm then scoop Kayci up and lay her so her head was sort of on his shoulder and against my chest. Then I supported their behinds with the other arm/hand.

I used to do this too, it works well. Another way when they're very little is to carry them both cradled, one in each arm (you need to have at least one lying down on a flat, preferably raised, surface for this though). What I would do is pick the first one up and get them settled in my left arm (because I'm right handed) so that their head was in the crook of my arm and my forearm went underneath their body with my hand supporting their bottom. Then I could use my right arm to scoop the other one up from where they were lying, basically just slide my arm underneath them until they were in the same position as the first twin and lift. I promise it's not as complicated as it sounds typed out like that!

I did this one as well, but you're right they have to be supporting their own heads. It helps if they're sitting/standing up-then you just crouch behind them (one at a time), wrap your arm around them and lift. They can slip down if you hold them too long like this though.

I did this as well. I put baby in my right arm in the cozy crook part and then I could scoop up the other baby, from a raised surface like the couch (I'd get down on my knees), with my left arm by sliding it under baby and kind of rolling baby towards my body. Then get up while holding two babies...this of course was not done until I was fully recovered from the section and could get up without having to use anything to assist myself so probably around 2 months old.

this is what I am doing since they are 3weeks old. I put them next to each other in the crib/PNP. put mu palm under there back and my tumb under their arm. Bow closer to them and pull them to my sholders. so they are facing me upright. and we are going either up or down the stair. like this. when I came to another floor I just bend again to the PNP or crib and put them down carefully. they still didn't hold their head so I always hold one arm behind their head and another under their bottoms.

I used a sling when mine were smaller and I needed to hold both of them.

To hold them both as infants, I used to sit down and lay one of them on his back on my thighs, with his head toward my knees and his feet toward my stomach. I held the other in my arms, and I would switch them off by moving one to the couch momentarily until I could get the other situated on my lap. It was actually pretty effective, because I could rock one with my arms and one with my legs, and not leave either of them waiting.
